I just thought Christensen’s negatives outweighed the positives. When he was fully fit and in top form he was a very solid and adequate CB. But the seemingly constant niggling injuries, the unexplained bouts of being out of the team, him getting bullied on the pitch even by players that he’s bigger than, and seeing him always grimacing in pain after innocuous looking challenges got super old.

If we had extended his contract I would’ve thought “meh, fine, I guess.” But now that he has left I’m also like “meh, fine, I guess.” I won’t really have a second thought about him once the season starts.

Yeah that's fair. On the other hand, there is a question of system.
In a possession system like City employs, as well as Barca, I think his weaknesses don't get exposed as much when the ball moves quickly and the CBs don't get into too many 50/50s.

You are right, esp if we shed out 50m for Ake we are settling for mediocrity. Might very well be that is the plan of the new owners like with Arsenal's (who have got a few signings in already tho). As long as we stay in the PL the cash will roll in.

For all the gushing over Arsenal's business, are Vieira and Jesus really that much better than who we have returning from loan in those positions let alone who we may or may not sign? Funnily enough i feel Arsenal's best signing so far is also a returning loanee (Saliba) providing Arteta doesn't piss him off like he has many others.

That cornet fella stood out every time I watched Burnley last season. What a player. Can he make the big leap though...

The big leap?? He's already proven his worth in the league we play in.

I was not even gushing, just stating the fact but I will take the bait.

Jesus is a proven goalscorer in the PL with respectable overall technical quality who has impacted various big matches. Broja has only shown glimpses of promise so far, so I definitely would say Jesus is the far superior player atm and does improve Arsenal. I would also say that jesus would have improved us but i can see why we did not go for him. Vieira i have no idea about, his stats are pretty shite. In this moment, I do not see how our squad overall is vastly superior to Arsenal's.

Saliba is a big talent, i agree. would not mind having him here rn.

Arsenal's best piece of business was getting rid of Guendouzi tho. Instantly takes their squad up a level not having that useless freerider around dragging everyone down. Took his ugly ass mullet long enough to vanish on the horizon. Absolute excuse of a footballer.

I was making a general observation with that sorry if you felt otherwise. I've never been sold on Jesus, yes he's relatively proven at this level but so was Lukaku and we all near enough unanimously agreed him out Broja in. There's a reason he never truly broke into that City side and if him and Nketiah are their pairing going forward i won't be losing any sleep, Auba and Lacazette circa 18-20 were miles better and they never troubled inferior Chelsea teams with inferior managers to Tuchel incharge (not to mention Emery and even latter years Wenger trump Arteta any day of the week).

From what is currently being reported by good sources de Ligt will gladly play for both Chelsea or Bayern. It is going to just be a case of who Juve accepts.

let him play for bayern until january, second part of the season he is ours.

I may be wrong here and correct me if so, but i get the impression that Gerard Romero fella chats absolute bollocks.

You're right. He's a fanboy with no contacts at the club.

Wouldn't be surprised if agents are swaying certain attacking players not to come here. I'm sure players like Lukaku, Ziyech, and Werner don't think very highly of TT's tactics and word can travel. All three players have their flaws but it also doesn't look great when each one was class before coming here. Don't think there's much of a belief Tuchel can elevate an attacking player.

Raphina was worried he might have to play wingback and that's probably one of the reasons why he doesn't want to be here. If he did he would already be ours so I think that's somewhat telling.

Seems like we'll have to overpay and give up some hefty wages to secure some signings but we need them.

De Jong, Sterling, and MDL would be a great summer of business.
