Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs preparing to make a move for one of the most exciting young talents in Europe this summer.

After netting his 10th league goal of the season in yesterday’s surprise win at Arsenal, Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi is hot property on the transfer market.

The 19-year-old Frenchman has been a big hit since joining the Cherries last summer, and he’ll surely be their next big sale after they previously cashed in on the likes of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, and Antoine Semenyo.

I’d heard murmurings about Kroupi before yesterday, but you’d be amazed what big performances in important games can do for a player’s value. I can assure you it’s not just a cliché that selling clubs put a lot of emphasis on World Cups, to take an example that will be highly relevant this summer, in determining how much they can realistically make from a sale. Equally, buying clubs are, in fairness, likely to be even happier to pay once they’ve seen their targets impress in the matches that matter.

Liverpool and Chelsea step up Eli Junior Kroupi transfer pursuit

So, after doing a bit of digging after yesterday’s game, I was not too surprised to find growing interest in Kroupi, who has long been on the radar of top clubs, but who is now likely to be a priority target.

“Liverpool and Chelsea have a very concrete interest, they’re both really keen to make a deal happen this summer and are looking into it,” one source said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool have already had some conversations,” another source told me. “Richard Hughes has a good relationship with his former club and will be on the phone to his counterparts there after that performance yesterday.”

Kroupi was superb against Arsenal, scoring the opening goal, and completing 12 of his 13 passes, whilst also working hard out of possession in a game that Bournemouth generally deserved to win.

why?

he is a better CB than multiple ones we currently have

as long as his salary is reasonable I see little to no reason why pulling him on a free warrants a 'hard pass'

He is only a better CB than most of ones we have because they are all poor. Even then he is not exactly brilliant. He is a squad player at best realistically, which we don’t need given how bang average the rest are.

Lack of standards/ambition shown by the sporting directors and the club is embarrassing. They need to sign quality players to raise the level significantly, not more of the same.

The fact Juventus & Dortmund are no longer interested says it all. The same Juventus that has Lloyd Kelly starting at CB most weeks…. Hard pass is the correct term.

You already hear the transfer briefings being laundered through the puppet Rosenior. He said again after the match today something like “we already know what we want to do and you guys just need to wait and see.”

That’s clearly what the owners are telling themselves right now. Just wait til summer and we’ll fix this with our puppet still in the job.

every single CB we have on the roster cannot be locked down starters

we need squad players

and we need at least one veteran CB

we absolutely need to flush multiple CBs we have now

including Tosin, Badi, Fofana

Senesi can EASILY replace one of those

and he is on a free

and he, like it or not, is a pretty decent quality CB, has leadership skills, and is EPL-proven

when all that is taken into account, it's a win-win IMHO

Will be interesting to see if Liam gets to 206 days just like Potter.

They look the exact same, well out of their depth and only here because they are part of the Blueco/Brighton/Sporting Directors club.

💥🔵Chelsea are preparing an official bid for the Brazilian attacking midfielder William Gomes, from FC Porto.

(@golsdobrasil1)

I call bullshit, BUT if we do buy him and it is not for a LOW price, I am going to not be a happy camper.

Why would we buy yet ANOTHER left-footed RWer?????

We desperately need a quality right-footed LWer.

Sources: Chelsea now monitoring Manchester City player for the summer

He's a player who is more than attainable 👀

Chelsea are now monitoring a Manchester City player who looks like he might want out of the club, ahead of the summer transfer window.

We keep hearing that Chelsea are planning a big summer of recruitment, with proven players being targeted.

Liam Rosenior keeps teasing it and bigging it up in the media, and Chelsea have been releasing such things as well via briefs.

Time will tell of course whether we actually see a difference in recruitment this summer, but all I see is understandable scepticism from the fan base.

Either way, a new goalkeeper could be on the agenda, and one name SPTC Sources have been given just this week is James Trafford of Manchester City.

As you will know, Trafford was signed by City last summer but he is playing backup to Gianluigi Donnarumma. Trafford is already getting itchy feet and wants to be a starting goalkeeper, so he is seeking an exit from City.

Our sources have heard that Chelsea are now monitoring his situation in case they decide to bring a new goalkeeper in this summer, which is something that they are considering.

Trafford has been on Chelsea’s shortlist for some time now, even before he joined City. You might remember we reported our interest in the stopper not so long ago, so he’s always been on our radar, and now we are looking into making a possible move to sign him.

Trafford went back to City from Burnley in the summer for a fee of around £30m, signing a 5-year-contract at that time. The 23-year-old England international has made just 3 appearances in the Premier League for City this season, and is looking like he could be attainable should he ask to go already.

I feel like being a calm, composed, super comfortable on the ball CB is what should be pursued more than anything. Going after “physical/powerful” CB’s is what led us to buying dogshit like Tosin, Badiashile, Disasi, etc.

And talking about buying someone to partner Colwill when we don’t even have any idea what he’ll be like is silly, too. For me we need a clear out and TWO new CB’s of a high level.

Welcome to Chelsea Van Hecke, bet Winstanley cock already hard to do business with Barber.

I have NO idea why we do not go for Caicedo's countryman Joel Ordóñez for a good right-footed CB

Of course my REAL want (for years now, since he was 16yo) for a right-footed CB is Luka Vuskovic

but IF (relegation would so aid that) he leaves Spuds I doubt he comes here

as every top 15 club in UEFA wants him

EXCL: Chelsea now targeting players from PL clubs facing relegation

Opportunities arising...

https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/excl-Chelsea-now-targeting-players

Chelsea’s decision makers are keeping a close eye on the Premier League standings at the bottom of the table as well as the top right now.

This is because they are sensing some transfer opportunities from Premier League clubs facing relegation this season.

Teams who will be relegated to the Championship this summer will need to look at selling a number of their key players, and Chelsea are already putting the work in on potentially trying to sign some of them. Below, we have the list of these players that Chelsea are looking at signing!

Obviously we don’t know who will be relegated yet, and a lot can happen in the last six games of the season. But these are the players the club are looking into from some teams who could get relegated, as cited by SPTC Sources….

Wolves

  • Mateus Mane (18-year-old attacking midfielder)

  • Joao Gomes (25-year-old centre midfielder)

Tottenham

  • Lucas Bergvall (20-year-old centre midfielder)

  • Mo Kudus (25-year-old winger/attacking midfielder)

West Ham

  • Mateus Fernandes (21-year-old centre midfielder)

  • Crysencio Summerville (24-year-old winger)

  • Jarrod Bowen (29-year-old winger/attacking midfielder)

Nottingham Forest

  • Murillo (23-year-old centre back)

  • Morgan Gibbs-White (26-year-old attacking midfielder/winger)

  • Elliot Anderson (23-year-old centre midfielder)

On Anderson, source says ‘wont happen’.

To add to this, another SPTC Source has said Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa is massively unlikely because other clubs are willing to pay more in wages and fees overall than Chelsea are.

None mentioned from Burnley or Leeds United yet, although there has been recent interest from Chelsea in Maxime Esteve at Burnley, so that could possible be one to watch.
