Who knows Bayern have enough defenders  - Upamecano , Hernandez , Pavard

Well it won't be a sensation if they  take a free agent from a direct competitor or bought him like Upamecano and Sabitzer  😂

Only reason I stared posting again on him was that report out of Italy that quoted a specific price (£50.5m ie €60m) that Maldini and Massara et al. would look at hard

Theo for 60m euros is a steal considering how essential fullbacks are for our system. Also he would probably be on lower wages than Chilwell.

We all know it's never gonna happen tho. We will either roll with Alonso or buy some dud.

Another winger who is awesome once in a while but extremely disappointing more often than not. In other words, the Chelsea Special.

The only wide attacker we should be thinking about is Chiesa next summer. And he’s probably impossible.

Need a midfielder. Our whole system under Tuchel was born due to the limitations of our midfielders. Bissouma ran circles around them tonight.

Not getting Tchouameni last summer is looking more and more ridiculous by the day. He signs for another club we may as well wear a red nose.

Part of me doubts that the club will go all out in January for a super expensive, long term starter LB like Theo. He’s the sort of player who you get when you don’t have a first choice LB as he’s far too good to be a rotation option. Chilly will come back eventually and if he’s able to return to his top class level then what would we do if we had he AND Theo on our books?

This is why Digne or Dest make more sense. They are both really solid but can coexist and still be reasonably happy with big competition for their place.

Theo is far better than Chilwell. Makes no sense to not make the move. Citeh have multiple starting level fullbacks.

I refuse to settle. Settling is what gets us in positions like we are now.

Yes, I agree. Time to be bullish and not consider how Chilwell feels when he's back fit. When Chilwell comes back eventually, he has to earn his place.

yikes!!!

Chelsea confirm £145.6m loss as pandemic and transfer business bites hard

The club has published its accounts for the most recent financial year

https://www.football.london/Chelsea-fc/Chelsea-confirm-1456m-loss-pandemic-22601429

Chelsea made a post-tax loss of £145.6million for the financial year ending in June, with the club pointing to the pandemic’s impact and a decreased profit on player sales in their latest accounts.

Roman Abramovich's club made a profit of £39.5million a year previous.

Overall turnover jumped by £29million to £416.8million, mostly thanks to a boost in broadcast income, but matchday revenue was obliterated owing to most of last season taking place behind closed doors and there was a knock-on impact to commercial income.

Crazy that you win CL, finish summer transfer window around zero and still record big loss. And UEFA wonder why clubs want Super League.

Last summer's transfer window was not included on the accounts for year 20/21. The previous year of heavy spending (around -190m€ net) was included in the amortisations.

Would assume the next one is much better when matchday income has (so far) returned to more or less normal and transfers for the 21/22 season are included, when there have been sales of around 160m€ consisting mostly from academy players who had zero amortisation value to begin with.
