How is Tommy on the market?

Lukaku and Saul so far here.

Apparently he wants Kimpembe and Kounde... Are these guys going to 'close gap' on City?

TT has a rather mixed to below average record on the markt. It is probably better he does not have that much say here.

He tends to make low-key dodgy signings if he gets his way but usually also finds ways to accomodate board signings over time (most big money signings at PSG were probably board sigings). Sometimes he does unearth great talents (Dembele had his best time under him, Guerrerio became quality player=  and makes average signings work better than under regular managers. (for example it was reported Gueye, Paredes, Choupo moting, herrera, perreira were his signings at PSG. All did quite well under but pretty much useless for other clubs and managers. Same goes for WEigl, Merino, Castro, Bürki). His attacking signings apart from Mbappe have mostly underperformed (Schürrle, Götze, Immobile). His defensive signings were usually spot on but also tended to crash and burn after he left (Bartra, Kehrer, Polanski, Koch). His best record on the market was arguably during his time in Mainz where he had a habit of finding sub 2m players that later had a more or less respectable top flight career like Szalai, Okazaki, Holtby, Choupo, Karius, Baumgartlinger

Anyway, possibly 4 defenders leaving is a problem. but it also gives us the opportunity to shop for a back 4 again or even better players who can play either.
Players who are clearly better in a 3atb system are Rüdiger, Azpi, Alonso. All 3 will leave. For Thiago, 3atb protects him better, but then again he is no Ramos and still has a decent bit of pace to not look out of place in a back 4. AC can play both systems. I hope we retain him. Chilly and RJ can work in both. Same as most of our rumoured CB targets.

Missing out on Hakimi is even more painful now, but IMO we should have wing backs tht can also play as regular fullbacks and for hakimi that is probably not the case. Theo however can. On the right, there are more attainable options. I could see Mukiele working here in multiple positions and his contract runs out in 2023 so would not cost a ton.

CONFIRMED! Reece James has torn his hamstring and will be out of action for a significant period of time!

Nice news . After LWB now we  need and RWB in January .This season will turn from a solid one into a nightmare .

From the link:

Chelsea spent £220.3million on signings in the financial year, headlined by the arrival of Kai Havertz in addition to Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy. The financial year concluded the day before the 2021 summer transfer window opened so the £100million cost of signing Romelu Lukaku from Internazionale is not factored in.

You are conflating fiscal years with what I said about windows.

When are we going to buy a striker with a brain??

Please for fuck sake just sign a player with a brain and who can stroke the ball like Cruyff.

It's not much to ask When you have over 10 billion in the bank.

1: Who

2: And who can stroke the ball like Cruyff, yeah ok, if you find one let us know😀

3: The owner has 10 billion in the bank not the club

get the scouts a new brief for the new year, Get lukaku out the club asap and bring in an actual world class striker and 2 defenders.

Quicker the better

Dušan Vlahović

Milan Skriniar (work a swap for Lukaku + Jorginho (or even a third player) + cash for Skriniar + Barella is the play I would go for)

Kounde (as it looks grim atm we hold onto AC)

re-sign Thiago for one last season and in summer 2023 move for another CB, OR perhaps Levi Colwill can step up (he will be 20 in a little over a year, so will be 20 and 21 in 2023/24)

We will struggle even against bottom half sides without our two wingbacks. I seriously don’t know how we salvage this season unless we buy this month.

And talk of recalling loanees doesn’t fill me with confidence either. These players already weren’t good enough (Kennedy, Baba, Emerson). And the youth players like Sterling aren’t ready for a team fighting for and in the CL.

Extremely difficult position for the club because there’s zero chance they ever planned on doing anything significant in January after how amazing we looked until the last month. We looked like an absolute machine that didn’t need anything. Now we are decimated and in danger of free fall.

But clubs who panic buy in January can really screw themselves by overpaying for average players. Very anxious to see what we do.

Mbappe is 99% going to Real (arffff)

Pogba is pure poison, Dembele too (atm, plus he is another Pulisic, always injured)

the other ones that interest me would be

Niklas Süle (IF we cannot get Kounde and AC leaves) perhaps

Paulo Dybala (if he would come here, he is shedload better than Pulisic and CHO)

Boubacar Kamara (very underrated young, versatile player, can play DMF, CMF, and CB)

something always rubbed me wrong about Kessie, maybe I am being harsh

the time to buy Brozovic was 4, 5 years ago, he turns 30yo near the beginning of next season and will have little resale value if a bust

the rest are a pass for me
