I just fear that if we spend too much on Sterling we won’t have anything left for another forward once we buy a couple of CB’s. That’s why getting Dembele would be so massive. Saves us a shed load of cash.

Now I’m seeing 50m or more for Sterling. Hmmm, not crazy about him for that price.

Tbh, in this market that is a deal. I know he is inconsistent but his stats last few seasons he has got into double figures for goals and assists. His record is brilliant and his injury record is brilliant too. Anyone with the stats he has, that should be considered a top deal for us because he is adding quality to us. I don't think he will get the same goals he does with us that he did with City, however stats wise, we are getting a player who has proven quality in the prem.

everywhere said £35m, so NOW it is magically £50m?????

his contract runs out in 12 months

fuck paying £50m for him, that's highway robbery

he isn't goddamn Mbappe or prime Jairzinho in 1970 ffs

If we get him for £30-40m (lot of talk about £35m being the fee) I think it will be a pretty good deal. Hopefully means we see the back of Werner and Ziyech too. Will definitely provide goals and assists.

Theres no way we are paying what City want for a player with one year left on his deal - £60m apparently….

And regardless, we need more than just Dembele. We need to upgrade on Ziyech, Timo and potentially even look at what does CHO offer, who I think may end up getting loaned out at this rate based on his overall development as a footballer the past 3 seasons. Not to mention Lukaku going.

Plus Dembele has still very much got to prove his consistency, fitness and that he can deliver regularly. Just because hes on a free doesn’t necessarily mean hes going to instantly be an absolute steal or save us cash  as theres still a lot of ifs and buts with him. No doubts he is a good player with a huge ceiling but barring the last half a season and his first 2 big seasons in France and Germany the rest has been very meh due to inconsistencies, lack of focus and injuries. I do think TT can get more from him than others as shown at Dortmund.

I doubt the new owner is going to hamstring Tuchel in his first major window and blow too much money on Sterling and CBs when we 100% need a striker now it looks likely Lukaku will go. Its clear there will be more leaving too.

still a upgrade to our attack

if we sell ziyech and get sterling, I think is a great upgrade

Yes, he's way more consistent than any attacker we have right now.

The only consideration is can he make it work in the black hole that is a Chelsea attack? He thrived in Liverpool and City sides that had a very attacking style and tons of forward players.

we started signing players (and managers in Rafa's case) who would have worked/did work well with the prime version to try and coax something resembling form from him [Torres].

I always scoffed at the idea that Rafa's working relationship with Nando was a factor in his appointment as temporary manager. Before the end of their time together at Liverpool Benitez had seen through the number 9. We didn't appoint a man with a magic Torres wand, we appointed a manager who knew the truth that Fernando was then, and always had been, an ordinary footballer.

That's City's asking price. The numbers quoted by Di Marzio (35m pounds) is a market realistic deal for Sterling.

Torres had a horrible attitude and it reflected on the pitch with his body language.

Thank god RDM had the balls to drop him from the first five penalty takers or we would’ve lost in Munich.

Would have been interesting to know where he placed on the penalty taker list because in an interview after the game Cahill said he was sixth.

Why are people saying to sell Puli? He's still yet to enter his prime, he has good marketability and the owners are never going to sell the best yank in the world. If Liverpool bought him to replace mane, klopp would turn him into a world beater.

The same donkeys that wanted to give lukaku a 'chance' are the same donkeys saying sell sell sell. Its sad that the fanbase has no support for developing players and only want to buy worldbeaters like donkeyaku. We bough Hazard and developed him(although I will concede Puli will most likely never be on his level.)

Reports from France suggesting we're in for Jonathan Clauss from Lens for around £8.5m.

ffs, silly season is in full effect

he is a right footer RB, 1.78m

the bloke turns 30yo in 3 months (we all know what happens to fullbacks once they go past 30yo)

and has only played two topflight seasons in his career (the last 2, for Lens)
