It seems we never learn even after kdb and salah  sales effectively costing us tons of titles we are repeating the same mistake over and over again

Maybe I'm missing something but wouldn't Ake give a clearer path to the next one in line? (Colwill).

Sign Gvardiol for that left hand side and that's the spot blocked for years, especially if/when we revert to back 4.

It's all cool and all that we are being linked with sub-worthy CBs (and can't land even those, lol), but who is supposed, to, like, start? Are we going to go 40-something matches with Silva + Wingbacks or what? We need proper first team leader who will hit the ground running, not some maybe-so-maybe-no's, that failed in other teams.

Don't even get me going with idea that we are replacing Rudiger with Ake (who we sold without any buyback clause, so I guess he wasn't supposed to come back).

And what's actually De Ligt's interest in joining Bayern? I can understand we are losing deals to PSG, Madrid or City, but Bayern?? That's really bad sign.

We did include a buyback clause, however we did not activate it because eat the time he was not deemed a necessity.

I can't believe we sell this guy one year ago. He's already better than Ake.

Never bought that narrative. We can’t be buying shit players to give youngsters who maybe one day might be good enough a clear pathway

I see it as the opposite. Gvardiol is Silva’s replacement if we signed him but good enough to start at LCB until then.

Ake and Colwill i only see as being LCB if they were to become regular starters.

The Athletic article states Tuchel wants to steer towards a back 4 in the future.

It's hard to say we haven't learnt our lesson when a number of players we've sold recently have buy-back clauses. I guess it just comes down to how much potential the club sees in each player.

I can only remember Livramento, does anyone else have a buyback? Tammy?

Abraham (next season IIRC) & Ake had a matching clause, which we decided against taking up.

That's a fair point. But we still keep up that weird policy of selling our youngsters to fund average signings who are hardly any better.

I agree. We can only hope this will slowly become a thing of the past going forward. We have enough regrets with a number of players in the USA.

Doesn't Guehi have one too

Same deal as Ake (matching clause). I had forgotten about that.

most of his games he played at centre CB (7 games very early on at left wing back as well, not left CB, but was strictly a CB after the first part of the season)

30 games, 27 starts at centre CB , 1 at RIGHT CB (all listed below) and 2 where he came in as a sub at centre CB

probably would have been 34, as they play 4 less league games than the other big 5

we also have no idea how Colwill will adapt
