What about midfield situation? Tchouameni obviously waved us goodbye, links with SMS last since forever and we are still potentially stuck with erratic Jorghi, erratic Kova and Kante or rather potential absence of Kante. Are we counting on RLC and Gilmour to step up? Didn't see any interesting gossip here.

RLC not helping himself not being able to be in America for preseason - already keeps him a step behind

I'm glad he isn't there, if we rely on him to to help us we are wasting our time.. He does absolutely nothing. He might run(glide) past some opposition players in midfield but he then misplaces a pass or gets tackled. If he hasn't learnt anything yet he never will..

Not sure how he fits tactically for Tuchel's system but surely Gallagher is in with a shout? Tuchel seems to really like him.

You would think we’d start seeing links to other attacking players now as alternatives in case Dembele stays and Raphinha signs there. But we haven’t. It’s like we’re just waiting and waiting on Raphinha’s future to be resolved and are kinda screwed if he chooses Barca.

Bit like United being 100% fixated on De Jong and then being fucked if he doesn’t move there.

Wish we would just move on and target someone else. Who that would be, I have no clue. All I know is that if we go into the season with only Sterling added to the exact same bunch of ultra inconsistent attackers we aren’t closing the gap to the top 2 at all.

Think there is confidence in the Raphinha deal.

From us or Barcelona

For us.

Barcelona are no closer to matching our offer (in terms of up front payment), and Xavi has been stressing to the Barcelona board they he prefers Dembele over Raphinha, to which they can't sign one or the other. (if they could resign Dembele, they'd of done it already).

IF we end up funding two fucking thirds of Citeh's buying De Ligt via us buying the massively less quality Ake, I am just going to

According to reports Manchester City are prepared to offer £76m (€90m) for Chelsea target Matthijs De Ligt.

Italian outlet Tutto Juve has reported that Manchester City are ready to offer Juventus £76m for their 22-year-old star defender, funding the transfer with the sale of Nathan Ake for £38m (€45m) and Gabriel Jesus for £51m (€60m).

De Ligt is currently contracted with Italian giants Juve until 2024, but his future is in some doubt this summer, with City the latest to show an interest as Nathan Ake looks set to leave for Chelsea.

Last season, the 22-year-old made 42 appearances across all competitions for the Old Lady. His defensive awareness and reliability at the back made him an integral part of Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

We can count Mount in the mix also and potentially Gallagher. If we sign both Sterling and Raphinha then I think there is a good chance we are going 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 next season and the only place for Mason in that formation is in the middle. We have plenty of good midfielders on our roster, a good mix between youth and experience, but the problem being that none of them is a DMF we need. We will have numbers and quality, but not necessarily the balance. I'm afraid we'll continue to see inconsistent performances from our midfield next season - they will run rings around some teams and will be overrun by others due to not having an out-and-out DMF.

RLC, Barkley and Gilmour will surely be off-loaded if there are any willing takers. Don't think we can count on them.

Survive the upcoming season and then go for our obvious nr. 1 target Declan Rice. It would be nice to one day have an all-English midfield of Rice, Mount and Gallagher. 😁

Ridiculous if true.

That is, if we actually fund them to get an even better CB to fill their squad, when we sign someone barely fit enough to be a squad option.

I also don't buy the Rudiger and Christensen improvement argument. They suffered mainly because of Lampards system, and they looked better after Tuchel changed it.

Tuchel couldn't work wonders with Saar, and I doubt he's going to make Ake grow an extra pair of wings.

Steer clear of Ake, and put everything on a quality CB., even if it's only the one CB we end up signing.

In other news, PSG are on the verge of making an improved offer for Skriniar to Inter.

Not sure why we never even tried to make a bid here. Especially after the big favor we did Inter, your would think we would at least try to take advantage.

It's like there's no real plan B for the deLigt bid failing.
