A player like Lukaku would force his way into the starting XI (esp at this price tag), which would disrupt the system that should be improved upon, not undone.

Unless we get Haaland, who just fits in any system because he's got everything in his game, I'd rather go with a younger FW hungry for success... similar to the current squad.

Yep, ditching an incredibly promising system for Lukaku for all players would kill the good feeling I have for this season instantly.

Really hope Inter stay strong.

This article agrees with you...

I'm almost sure we will make 3 transfers:
- Kounde 100%
- Rice/Tchouaméni
- Haaland/Lukaku
Will back here after deadline day but there are to many rumours and we really need class 9.

Update: I would love to see Lukaku here  instead of Haalad. He was my top target when Conte leaved Inter. Sadly it looks like he like Serie A. But hope is still here. Interesting week it will be.
Also i think that we may make RLC our back up middlefield to wait one season to go for Rice/someone else.
But if things go mad i would not go for any alternatives for 9 and play season with Havertz as false 9.

I really feel people are underestimating just how good Kai can turn out in the 9 position. Not just in terms of his own level but how compatible him there is with a successful style of play.

False 9 is becoming more and more successful in this day in age. City winning the league with one, Liverpool CL then league with one, us CL...

Liverpool and City have the goalscoring wingers though.

What the hell? How come we've mad two bids for Lukaku but we haven't made a single bid for Haaland? Very confusing stuff

There is a huge week in front of us. It's make or break for Marina and the board.

Dortmund is publicly listed, negotiations with those kinds of clubs are done differently. Any real offer made would have to be publicly disclosed by Dortmund, which the club certainly do not want. Because of that its just tons of discussions and sounding out through intermediates, because you only want to make an official offer, once you are absolutely sure it will be accepted. Since Dortmund appear to be adamant about keeping him, the club probably will never make an offer this summer. Which does not mean they didnt try everything.

Said goalscoring wingers Sterling and Mahrez got 6 and 7 goals respectively in their respective first seasons at City. So pretty much the same type of numbers as our players first season tallys (without even half the type of obstacles ours faced).

So if they can naturally evolve as players, why can't ours?

Can a single one of our center midfielders pop in with 15+ like Gündogan did? Mount, Kova, Kante, and J5 won’t score that between all of them.

Which is why it's crucial to get someone who can score 20+. Firmino get away so much from any criticism because Mane and Salah saved him many times.

If Gundogan can do it, then why not someone like Jorginho? lol

Jokes aside, Gundogan's return of 17 goals last season feels like an anomaly considering he's never scored more than 6 goals in a season before last term.

I would say Mount could very much evolve into a double figures scorer, he got 6 goals in half a season for Tuchel (which for context in itself matches Gundogan's best tally outside of last season).

I suppose if Mount’s development explodes this season he could get into double figures. But Jorginho, Kante, and Kova shit the bed anytime they get near the box.

Kova and Jorginho look like they’ve never proactive shooting in their lives. Which is astounding considering how skilled they are everywhere else on the pitch.

He could if we won many penalties like Fernandes.

That's the problem though, the board solely focusing on Haaland could jeopardize our whole transfer window. The fact that we've wasted two whole months (June and July), where we could've offloaded fringe players like Zappa, Barkley, Drinkwater etc, and strengthened in other areas such as DM position(Rice/Tchouameni) and CB position(Kounde) is crazy. What did we really do this transfer window besides sell a couple youngsters?

We should've done business earlier and signed a DM and CB by now so that we don't have to stress late in the window. Usually a selling club has the leverage late in the window, especially when the buying club really needs that player. We really need a DM and if we keep delaying it then we'll regret it 100%.

Besides, we've been talking to Dortmund for atleast 7 months now, because the news broke that we're interested in Haaland in January. The interest was there for so long, yet there's literally no progress which is mindboggling. We should start focusing on signing a CB/DM first and look at other strikers, because Lukaku/Haaland are very difficult deals to make. We need a plan C striker, because buying players late in the window is very difficult seeing as it's difficult for a selling club to replace their striker with minimal time left. So that's why I feel like we should sign a CB and a DM right now, and have a plan C striker ready as a backup incase Haaland/Lukaku don't sign.

And still can't get the Kounde deal done....what a fuck on.

Don’t think we should worry about that deal. By all accounts Sevilla are more than willing and in fact pretty much have to sell to continue operating as they do (buying low and selling high). Everyone seems to think we’ll eventually get him.
