What is an absolute must is that our next CB needs to either be elite or the proven potential to become elite. When a 37 year old is our best CB, it really shows the standard of what we have.

I'd keep Christensen as he looks to be of value in our three at the back system.

Silva is a no brainer to extend his contract.

Dave also a no brainer for the back three.

So that just leaves one of Rudiger or Zouma to fuck off. Personally, I want the former gone. Under Tuchel, it'll probably be Zouma.

Silva/Rudiger/Christensen + an Elite CB

This one is at least laid out in a way that could make sense. Pulisic to Bayern to fund new transfers.

Personally I wouldn't be keen on giving up on Puli yet. Sure he hasn't been great this season but I think that is due to injuries which he may be able to recover from.

The source they quoted isn't reliable.

Tuchel has a bad rep for buys.

That is the one thing I liked about Lampard. He push for amazing buys.

Would we continue with a back 3 though? I think signing a Ndidi type midfielder would enable this team to revert to a back 4. Would bring Chilwell and James right back into play.

We probably will. Tuchel is flexible with his tactics.

Playing a back 3 is not something an elite team should aspire to. It's a coping mechanism to protect our frail defence. It helps keep a lot of possession, but as we've seen time and time again, it just isn't very good for creating chances. It is and always has been a defence first approach, possession being a big part of that. Tuchel probably looked at the squad and took into account that our defenders already are comfortable playing in a back 5 from Conte's time and took a pragmatic decision. If we get a good CB and DMF, I believe he more than likely will put one extra body upfield to really attack teams.

its so simple, once you leave out AC Milan and Inter Milan

Arse and Spuds are now only the biggest of the  mid size clubs, Spud's new stadium aside

Dortmund, Leipzig, Napoli, Everton, Roma, Leicester takes you to 20

and rounding out the top 25  for 'biggest' clubs are

Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen, Lazio, Ajax, and Lyon

Thank god. Another defender in the mould of Rudiger or Zouma who needs a brain like Silva playing alongside him is the last thing we need.

Same guy who came on in the CL final and looked very comfortable? Not his biggest fan but he is a far superior CB than both of Rudi and Zouma.

Nothing worse when folk write articles like this. We paid the fee for the release clause and he turned us down. Not surprised either hes apparently the highest paid GK in the world at a club who developed him and gave him a chance, not even Benfica played him and they are notorious for developing talent and moving it on for huge money. It wasnt a matter of £16m but some idiots will paint their own narrative with such bullshit clickbait articles. Like saying if we spent an extra £25 million on any other player who we probably tried to sign and they turned us down, as if it would make a difference 😂 like Virgin van Dijk or whoever.

Also @NikkiCFC have to agree, Angelino is a very decent player. Still surprised Pep didn’t try him more as he is very much the sort of fullback he likes. Also he is homegrown having spent 3 seasons in City’s academy prior to being 21 IIRC. Only 24, still has plenty of growth also but think Leipzig will keep him.

I don´t think he would be a big upgrade on Rudiger or Zouma. He would struggle against the pacy strikers and winger in England. I´d rather look after a defender who can organize the defense himself (like T. Silva) and doesn´t rely on physical prowess. Also, Sule already had two cruciate ligament ruptures, which would also be risky.

I can see the point regarding the cruciate ligament ruptures to a degree but also if its not a massive deal for Bayern, who have a very good injury record and medical staff and tend to play him every week, I doubt it should be a major concern for us. He’s hardly injury prone, just its part of football, unfortunately players suffer major injuries at times. We had Callum and Ruben suffer from ACLs and stuck by them - would imagine it has more of an impact on younger players as they are still developing and growing physically. Also Gilmour injured his meniscus last season and had 4-5 months out. Its not as if we would he signing someone with one leg and half a hamstring or someone who regularly fails to complete 10-15 games a season. Will agree though there are probably better CBs out there but are they attainable? Also would say Sule’s probably a considerable improvement on Zouma and Rudiger but thats also not exactly a huge achievement as they are good but nothing spectacular.
