With the greatest respect to Azpi and Alonso, we're probably doing Barca a favour blocking these transfers if true.

Having said that if we struggle with getting players in, both players still hold a position within the squad and aren't the worst options to have to "make do" with next season if we were forced into such a position. I'd rather Azpi in the back 3 than Sarr and I'd rather Alonso on the left instead of Emerson.

For me, Marcos with all his faults he is quite an ok backup to have at LWB, better than Emerson for sure where the latters advantage is only his speed. I cant take anymore of those hoof balls forward to nobody.

As bad as I feel for Azpi and his move to Barca, we simply cannot lose another senior defender without getting one in. Hopefully Azpi will be a professional about this and understand our situation. 

I think its better for us to hold off on the LWB, RWB position and focus first on getting another CB and an attacker, and then maybe explore the options we have near the end of the transfer season. We will also need to do proper research to find the most fitting player for those positions (RWB,LWB) as I think they will be here for a while and we do not need another Baba Rahman on our hands, this is also why we need to improve our scouting department.

But that's the problem right there.

Why should we weaken ourselves by selling Alonso to keep Emerson purely on the basis because he can be sold and Emerson cannot?

Either find buyers for both and buy a new LWB, or keep Alonso as backup. Emerson either finds a new club or he sits out this season. We can't afford to let these players we want to move on just get a free pass into the squad or worse make space for them in the squad.

Same goes for Batshuayi. I'll bang my head against a wall if he's still here by the end of the transfer window and Broja isn't.

We should just walk away from kounde and maybe the transfer market as a whole at this point...no good players available...we will just end up paying a bomb for lukakuesque type player and then dk ourself more in next few summers trying to get rid of them
