I just hope they included some evaluation after the season in his contract, that would bring the compensation down and it's the reason they drag this shitshow for so long. So how bad we had actually become, given there was sanctions, no players in key positions, dressing room tensions, years long stagnation, squad few levels worse than now and question over the clubs further existence? We were 10 at worst, now we are 11.

22m paid to Brighton and a 60m, 5 year contract for Potter- I believe American sport background of owners led to this thinking.

You can afford to give time to coaches in American sport. Finishing low has little consequence there. You even get rewarded with higher draft picks. But in football that's not the case.

Emery is an accomplished coach, especially in Europe  and shits all over potter. I wouldn't go for him here though.

Is the club better now? How do we know all these signings will come good? Just because we’ve spent a massive amount of money doesn’t make us better. Tuchel was infatuated with players like Cucurella and wanted to sign a team full of wingbacks. We’ve spent a lot of our money in the wrong areas. 
 

The sanctions were overrated, a lot of those players were the same ones he won the CL with. He was a big part of the locker room tensions as he has been everywhere else he’s coached. 
 

obviously Tuchel is better than Potter but Tuchel has proven he’s capable of instantly improving a team only to not being able to sustain it over a long period of time due to various reasons. 

Don’t think either one of them are long term answer here.

There’s a world class back 3 coach sitting on the market right now in Conte who has dreamed of having an owner who will match his ambitions. We have a squad (minus the striker currently) tailor made for Conte. We’ve got world class wingbacks, some world class midfielders, and pace to burn with multiple attackers. Give him this summer window to get 2-3 handpicked players in and we will challenge for every trophy.

If not him get Naglesmann before Spuds do.
