It say's '50m or less money and a player'.

Doesn’t that exclude the proposed swapped player from the 50 million?

Romano said in the article on the Guardian that Kounde has a release clause of €80 million but the club aren’t prepared to pay that fee. Assuming that is the case, then the deal should probably be like €50 million + Zouma for Kounde, no?

Wouldn’t even swap Zouma for Kounde straight up yet alone doing a deal for Kounde that is cash + Zouma personally.

I mean Kounde is good currently, young, with huge potential but he still has to get to that next level consistently. He had one really outstanding game v Barcelona which made everyone notice him more but you would think he did that week in week out when the truth is, he didn’t. He didn’t play much better than Rudiger or Christensen did under Tuchel for instance either really.

The worst of it is Varane for £41m is an absolute steal and those cunts United are the ones making the deal, not us, which is infuriating.

Disagree regarding Varane, I personally think he’s going to be found out in the premiership. Does he have the attributes to acclimate? Of course, still think he should have stayed put.

Kounde, totally agree, I don’t see the hype, bang average and I can’t believe we’ve started our transfer business there, aside from a possible keeper.

That game happened this season? Then why Pep wanted him before Ruben Dias year ago?

Found out? I can’t see it. At his age, where he was before also, he is certainly far too good to get found out. And even then bar the fact he maybe isn’t as physical as a van Dijk or a Dias, he’s every bit as good as most top top CBs these days and still in the top however many.

Can do basically everything and he has pace that Maguire doesn’t so in all likelihood its a potentially very good partnership for United. I think its also a big mistake from us not making a serious move for that price. He’s probably better than most or dare I say it, all options out there in that price range at present.

I think people are thinking Madrid’s downfall or France’s games at the Euros means he is all of a sudden a bad player when in fact he has grown into and been one of the best central defenders around for the best part of 8 or 9 years.

I mean surely if he wanted him that bad he would of signed him? Not like moneys ever been an issue for City for recruiting defenders is it? Or that Pep rarely gets what he wants at all at City? For CBs, Stones cost 47.5m in summer 2016, Laporte cost 57m in January 2018, Dias cost 61m in 2020 and Ake cost 41m that same summer too. Throw in the money they paid for Mendy, Walker, Cancelo as well then 2 GKs too so one would think that surely if he wanted him, they’d have bought him, no? Considering they’d spent 100+ mil on 2 CBs in that summer its not exactly like they were short of the funds to meet his release clause/asking price at any point. And if Nathan Ake is seen as a better signing than Jules Kounde then we should really be questioning if he is the right signing.

Clubs get linked to hundreds of players by the media, it doesn’t necessarily mean its true.

While i agree there's question marks over his suitability to the PL calling him bang average is just wrong on many levels.

I guess I have to post same thing I posted earlier today...

Monchi explained why they rejected great offer from City.

Also Kounde said that Pep called him.

https://www.football-espana.net/2020/11/23/sevillas-jules-kounde-admits-he-spoke-with-pep-guardiola-about-move-to-manchester-city

They also wanted KK before Dias but Napoli wanted 100m which City did not want to pay.

Dias was 3rd option.

Kounde was linked with United, City, Spurs, Chelsea, Barca, Real... They all probably know a thing or two about footy...

And about Varane... He had this low price all summer, but apart from United he was not linked with anyone?

Reading the replies to any of Romano’s tweets regarding Koundé today and they’re filled with angry Real Madrid supporters who are annoyed that they aren’t replacing Varane with him. They all want him in their team and they’re the ones watching La Liga every week and know how talented he is.

If he’s good enough to be considered for Real Madrid he’s good enough for Chelsea.

Kounde has the Reece James type build. He isn't getting bullied out of anything.

How many times has James surprised a hulking CF with his strength and had them back off? I counted plenty last season, and Kounde plays very much the same way.

Looks incredible on the ball. The best I've seen from all these "ball playing" CB's we've ever been linked to.

Exciting transfer.

Sounds like €/£50m straight up or less cash and a player to me. However, I don't know if the guy in that tweet is reliable. Could be pure BS.

kounde for zouma leaves us with just one CB over 6'2, all slight in build, all aerially average at best. Don't like it at all. Zouma scored 6 goals from set pieces last season. Can easiyl now see us go a full season without a headed set piece goal which come in clutch in tight games.

Praying this does not happen but it so stupid our board will do everything to complete it. smdh

Conveniently ignoring how bad Zouma was under Tuchel and how uncomfortable he looked in a ball-playing role.

Zouma's set-piece goals last year - Brighton, Palace, Burnley, Leeds, Palace - Just one of them in a tight game vs Leeds.

A cbs  priority is to defend . Zouma is A good enough defender as a back up. The cbs playing out from the back is overrated and a temporary trendy craze that happens every few decades.
When you have tall and/or fast attackers which we have, hoofing it forward can actually cause more of an attacking threat than giving everyone a heart attack by passing it through the own box.

Okay, my brain was definitely broken last night. Read that as Sevilla want around 50m plus a player rather than 50m OR less money plus a player. 😅🤦‍♂️

Having said that, would be surprised if Sevilla drop the asking price (aka release clause fee) so much for supposedly one of the best young CBs, regardless of whether a player is included in the deal or not.

It is supposed to be a buyers market yet we decide to splash out 50m+ for a position we are not even in desperate need despite better alternatives being available for half the money. The board is getting dumber each year.

When so many teams are pressing high up and hardly any top team plays a CB like Zouma regularly.

For the longest time, we have been trying to do away with hoofball too. Sarri's 4-3-3 and Tuchel's 3-4-3 play out of the back and the latter won the Champions League without really breaking a sweat.

I don't see Zouma getting minutes under Tuchel other than being thrown on when closing out games. Firmly the 5th choice CB under him at the moment.
