physically he is the whole package. can defend as well. but hoffensively he is not always as useful as today. Just one goal in whack belgian league.

So not only will Hakimi not be anywhere near the 80m we were led to believe Inter demanded, but we never even actually put a bid in. 😑😑😑

Are we asleep?

why does everyone keep using the 80m figure and not using the pounds sterling price (£68.5m)?

if people use 80m they should specify that it is euros

we are down to very few actual real (not me tossing in wild card players) options for RWB as I see it

1 Keep Reece there

2 Play Azpi there perm

3 CHO as the starter (or at least plays a lot at RWB)

Adama Traore (I am starting  to come around to and make peace with the idea, just simply based our his insane pace and potential to rip apart teams with it, which is why, I am sure, Tuchel has/had him as Plan B)

Denzel Dumfries (you just know he is the likely last minute panic bid IF Wolves will not come way down from their insane £70-80m Traore valuation, which I can almost guarantee they will)

6 If 1 and 2 and 3 ( a combo of Reece and Azpi and CHO again) then wait to see if Silas recovers completely from his knee injury and buy him in summer 2022

sure there are other names tossed out there, but I have seen posters make decent arguments against some

the huge downside to many RWBs/RBs is their lack of production (perfect example, Nordi Mukiele)

I cannot stress what a HUGE fucking loss missing out on Hakimi was 🤬

I would so much rather have gotten him and done fuckall (for now) at CB and LB (other than sell Emerson)

getting him and accepting that (ie. nothing done this window at CB and LB) would mean only 3 more buys (unless we ship Ziyech) CF (or course, and a Håland deal is looking real shaky I have to admit, ffs) CMF, and DMF

United getting Sancho, linked to Varane and Camavinga, meanwhile Marina sunbathing on the beach.

Couple of possibilities here:

1. We were interested but not too interested till the point we are desperate to throw close to £70 million for Hakimi. This is the same club that didn't want to pay over £70 million for Van Dijk few years ago and were reluctant to pay £50 million for Chilwell last summer. So maybe the club have a limit on how much they are willing to pay for a defender.

2. The club underestimated Inter's desperation for money? They wanted straight up cash while we tried to offer cash + player but that went out of the window as soon as PSG were willing to just offer cash straight up for Hakimi. It's a bit like last year where no one could really afford anything and we just came in and bought players we had the money. Different case now with some clubs able to spend again.

My guess is #1. We were probably interested and thought we could have a free run at him. But when PSG came in we never took our interest any further because we didn’t want to take part in a bidding war. We wanted him but not at a crazy price.

Missing out on Hakimi is a shame because he would’ve killed it in the PL and offered a whole new dimension to our attack. But I’m not going to cry about it as long as we kick into gear and start making moves.

One theory is also that we only showed interest to make Psg up the price so Inter can afford to buy our dregs

United's transfer dealings deserve absolutely zero praise though.

If their board had any competence at all they should have easily wrapped up Sancho a year ago already. The 'links' to Varane and Camavinga are just that, links. Those moves might materialize or they might not, but a bid has not been made and as far as I know United are not in advanced negotiations for these players.

Transfer dealings are funny. Pretty much everyone thinks their own clubs are not efficient enough because they religiously check the news multiple times every day and 99% times there's no updates so they think the club are not doing anything, but for other clubs they are not as emotionally invested and only see news of confirmed transfers when they happen so they might think the other club is more efficient in the market. In reality the other transfers take ages to complete too but you just don't follow the transfer saga as much.

Nah Hakimi would have been quality for us, we dont need alot to compete for the title and we blew it for this one. Im looking forward how the board will back another winning manager or just blow it all once again.

We have no idea of the actualities of it, but my opinion, is that Ziyech really steered this one away from us. I cannot fathom the reality of choosing PSG over a club that is challenging for leagues and just won the UCL.

We never even bid.
