It is inevitable that a part way will be happening soon, maybe Roman may wait until the end of this season and sacrifice this season for the sake of putting his faith in Jose one last time. A tiger just cannot change its diet, if Jose really 'change' from who he was before he wouldn't have as much success and this is the painful truth him and many fans are too afraid to admit. When he tried to play 'attacking football' during the beginning of his 2nd spell, we went on a horrible run and he has to reverse back to his normal tactics, we thought the breakthrough came last season for the first part but then again after a 5-3 defeat to Spurs things are back to the 'Jose way' as usual.

Then there is the stability which people keep suggesting, is it really worth sticking with someone as unstable as him? Does a manager that really craves stability goes and create headlines for the wrong reasons every week? If it is not attacking your own staff, own player then it is the repetitive old rhetoric about referees and conspiracies against Chelsea FC by the FA, the media and by whoever else he can think of. Did he ever put his hand up and admit that he is wrong for once? The fact that despite all the success he has devided the fans this much shows why he is not a long man for the long term, when Carlo was sacked everyone was partly shocked with the way it happened and some even felt it was harsh, this is far from it. The frustating thing with Mourinho is that he doesn't know when to stop, it is like falling into a hole and instead of trying to climb back out he just want to go further and deeper into it. Why does he never hold his hand up and accept some mistakes? it is always everyone else's fault though otherwise he wouldn't be that 'special' anymore right?

Let's see what happens this Sat against Liverpool, if we lose and he knew before hand that he got to go if that is the case then in his interview after the game he should announce live on TV that he is resigning as Chelsea's manager and thanks the club, Roman and the fans for a 'good' 2nd spell at Chelsea but if his past is anything to go by he will go one last rant/attacking other people like he always does when he has to leave a job on a bad term previously. Let's see him showing his 'love' for Chelsea as many are claiming by offering to 'resign' and forfeit £30m compensation or at least majority of it, let's see if he is willing to put 'talk' above 'material like money' because they say love cannot be bought right?

Mourinho is a divisive, controversial figure and is unlikely to bring stability in the long run, plus his brand of football is usually boring, but his cult of personality at Chelsea is so strong that I think it's unwise to sack him before the end of the season or even the end of the contract. If he is shown the door early, whoever succeeds him will have to face an uphill task of reshaping the way the club play under the pressure of instant success from the tens of thousands of vocal Mourinho fans who will be ready to call for his head at the earliest sign of trouble.

I don't get these type of comments. We are 15th, not top 4. We have not had 1 convincing display in the league this season. Fans should be happy with that right? Ridiculous. People acting as if no other manager or interim coach would be doing better. Fact is we have some quality players and to be in this position is a disaster. How can you keep defending Mourinho with this form and the awful style of football being played? Then all the baggage he is causing as well. We don't need all of this. I will support him while he is in charge but people need to stop making it look as if we can't move on without him. We have won all major trophies in the last decade without him in charge and even if he was to go at some point, we will always be Chelsea and in the long run competing for trophies.

Indeed. Everything is normal. Team is 15th in the league, but thats normal. 1 win in 7 games. Normal, that happens in the best families. Poor football. Normal. Just sky ceating soap opera, despite the club feeling forced to release a dreaded vote of confidence.

The situation is so normal that everyday we have at least 10 posts in TC quoting a pundit, ex-player or manager, "backing" Mourinho, to prove the situation is normal.

When you say "take us forward", can you quantify that? As in, take us forward a couple more years, or take us forward for a decade? In the first instance, yes, but in the second, then no. He's only ever been a short- to mid-term manager and I doubt that will ever change/

He has always had the issues of negative football and a lack of youth integration, but you can look past that when you're winning titles. We're not even winning games, at the moment, so he's getting hit by both barrels.

It's hard to see positives, but if we sack him now, who is there better to bring in?

Henry: THERE is only one man who can turn Chelsea’s season around and he is already in place at Stamford Bridge: Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho is the club’s most successful manager and it makes no sense for them to get rid of the man who put them on the football map.
When he said the other week that there is no better manager for Chelsea out there, he was telling the truth.
It would be a massive mistake to even think about replacing him so soon after handing him a new four-year contract.
We want the best managers in the world working in England. And Mourinho is one of the greats.
So I hope that Roman Abramovich gives him the time and respect he deserves to rectify the first serious slump of his career.
The only people in football who would be happy to see him sacked are the other managers who know he can stop them from winning the title.


If Mourinho was being judged on his work rather than his behaviour, there would not even be a debate about his future.
For me, he is one of the best managers of all time.
The success he has achieved with four clubs in four different countries is almost unprecedented.
So it seems that people are jumping at the chance to kick him when he is down because they don’t like the things he says and the way he acts on the touchlines.
But is it really such a surprise that he has been arguing with referees and falling out with the authorities when results have not gone his way? That’s the way he has always been and it’s the way he will always be.


Chelsea knew exactly what they were getting when they brought him back to Stamford Bridge in 2013.

He acted the same way when he was delivering them the league and Capital One Cup double last season.
When Mourinho was winning, everyone laughed at his press conferences.
But now he is losing and suddenly people are using his comments as a stick to beat him with.
In the past, he would whip up a media storm to divert attention from a rare poor performance.
It was his way of protecting his players from criticism.
But because there have been so many poor performances this season, it has been one long storm.


t’s not easy for any top player to be criticized or questioned but it’s what you have to expect when you play for a coach like Mourinho.
That’s the way it was for me with Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger.
And I’m sure it was the same working for Alex Ferguson, Carlo Ancelotti or Marcello Lippi.
These are the most demanding coaches in the world and that is what makes them so special.
So, of course, it is difficult for Nemanja Matic to take when he is sent on a substitute and then hauled off again.
And, yes, it is a blow to the pride of John Terry when he is taken off at half-time like he was at Manchester City.

But they both know that they wouldn’t have achieved half as much in their careers without Mourinho’s help.
So I don’t believe that his players have downed tools and turned their backs on the man who has helped them to win so many trophies.
Now it is down to those players to stick together, work harder than at any other stage of their careers and get Chelsea back on track at the top end of the table.
Whenever you win the title you need to be even more motivated the following season because all of your rivals are gunning for you and have worked out a plan to stop you.
At the moment, teams are no longer scared of playing Chelsea.


They have seen the likes of Crystal Palace and Southampton win at Stamford Bridge and others believe they can do the same.
Liverpool lost their Anfield invincibility when Arsenal won the league title on the final day of the season in 1989 — and they have struggled to get it back.
Chelsea have to make sure the same thing does not happen to them and the only way they can do that is by putting a long winning run together.
It is already too late for them to save their Premier League title but I still believe they can secure a top-four finish this season.

They are currently nine points behind third-placed West Ham, with 28 games remaining, so there is plenty of time to turn things around.
But every week I say to myself ‘Chelsea are far too good for this run to carry on’ and then they lose at West Ham and go out of the Capital One Cup at Stoke.

In their defence, I think they were unfortunate this week because they put in enough effort and commitment to get a result from both games.
But it means they must beat Liverpool at home tomorrow to avoid the pressure on the manager becoming intolerable.
Those at Anfield will believe there has never been a better time to play this fixture but Chelsea can feel the same way.
Liverpool are not in a good way at the moment.
And they are still trying to adapt to the demands of their new manager, Jurgen Klopp.
It’s a great opportunity for Chelsea to launch the fightback.
For Mourinho’s sake, they can’t let this one slip through their fingers.

It's pointless to argue. There is the "best manager in the world" camp who are sentimental and clingy to history, then there is the camp of people like you and me who are cold and calculated. The argumentations reflect that, both sides provide valid opinions and points. Maybe it has something to do with zodiac signs?

I, for example, would be over the moon if Mourinho had managed to deliver his promises when he came back. As a Chelsea fan I naturally view him in a different light and I would love nothing more than for him to keep being successful. But he is failing now, and him failing = Chelsea failing, and as a cold and calculated argument, I don't particularly like seeing something or someone I'm attached to failing. In my eyes he only deserves to stay if he shows improvement and starts delivering his promises, I'm not basing what he deserves on his past achievements. We need him to be the best in the present, not in the past. Now more than ever.

I think you were missing the point of his post since it wasn't directed at you.

What disgust me most, is that the people who back Chelsea's Manager, are labeled as "mourinho worshipper" and such by those who don't, while they hide their own agenda behind the now cliché words "we want what's best for the clubs" funnily enough you never hear the term "mourinho hater" or such other terms by the people who back him.

All in all i find most of the people who back him, more level headed and less likely to start insulting other members of this board. Having different opinions and discussing them out is fantastic, that's why this forum exists, but that's not what's happening here.

So yes, i'm mostly grossed out by that.

FOUR reasons why the club haven't sacked Mourinho yet (either one, two, three or all of them):

1. If we sack him, who can we bring in? Only big name and experienced manager out there right now is Ancelotti and even then, it seems like he intends to stick with his sabbatical plan.

2. His contract. Sack him and we have to pay 30m+. With the club being so concerned about the FFP and obsessed with the finance, doubt they would want to take that hit.

3. The club are owning up to their mistakes made in the summer (e.g regarding transfers) and not blaming Mourinho entirely for the mess we're in now. They intend to give him time/chance to fix it by backing him in the future transfer windows.

4. Maybe the club are serious about wanting stability with the manager, even if the results aren't great on the pitch.
