nono 791
Unfortunately it seems at the club there is a desire to acquire big name signings more for marketing advantages than on the basis of talent. First Torres now Rooney. The only reason they'll spend stupid money on Rooney is to sell shirts.

First Torres now Rooney. The only reason they'll spend stupid money on Rooney is to sell shirts.I never really post on here although I read it everyday, obviously Rooney, as you say will sell an awful lot of shirts, he's not exactly a shoddy player! He would certainly help with any possible striker issues we might have, and as time goes on he may be able to drop slightly deeper as we've see this year for utd (as he gets older/improvements come through) he's gonna cost a lot of money obviously, but in terms of the 'greater good' wouldn't be a bad signing in my opinion. Feel free to correct me if you disagree.
Hannah 200
something new ;Phttp://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/wayne-rooney-transfer-chelsea-confident-2073471"Chelsea believe it is a only matter of time before Wayne Rooney is their player. But the Blues are resigned to not landing Rooney in time for him to return to Old Trafford in a Blues shirt on August 26. The Stamford Bridge club will table a second bid of £24million this week and feel they can get their man for around the £30m mark – despite Manchester United’s insistence the England man is not for sale." captainjt26 106
think if the Higuain > Napoli story is true, guess what ,Perez goes for Rooney will be the perfect Galactico signing for them ....and United avoids selling to a rivalRooney wont leave England for Spain
ZanSnake 1,211
I think this is another summer saga that won't end up our way, there is too many reliance on Man Ure to stop the defensive front they have put up and might be another Cavani, Falcoa, Aguero chase rather then anything. Or it would end up down the route of Torres, with us offering a large amount of money to push Man Ure's hand to sway in our favour.

Chelsea? 892
Chelsea ready to raise the stakes in pursuit of Wayne Rooney by offering Manchester United £40m deal that would be awesome. You know what? the other players should adapt it and like surrender if Mr Golden Boy ever gets injured/suspended because there would be not point in playing without him. Azpinator 2,325
wow, talk about stretching a statement. No, I had an opinion on that statement regarding the player we're talking about. Sorry if I overreacted 'cause I thought that's what people do in this topic. My bad.
DustinC 136
I don't think we're suffering on shirt or other merch sales for that matter. So I think claiming that Wazaa is all about shirt sales is a bit ridiculous to claim. I however probably would buy one just for causing butthurt to United supporting friends. So then again maybe that theory holds up......
