Edinson Cavani

NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TILL MADRID ANNOUNCE THEIR MANAGER.

We may agree a fee with Napoli, that is it.

Once Madrid have a new manager, then it will be up to them to either go for Cavani or not.

If Madrid decide not to go for him, then he is ours.

Therefore, this 48 hrs thing is bullshit.

We should know whether he will be in london or madrid in the days after madrid have their manager.

If they did not want Cavani, then they would have said it, or Cavani would have implied it in the media, instead of saying Madrid is my dream etc.....

We simply have to wait if we want him.

Wasn't it Bild that reported we'd be signing him within days weeks ago?

How would a German paper know about the goings on in Naples anyways?

Well Germany is pretty close to Italy ;) - geographically and for a few years 70 odd years ago :)

Nobody knows anything at this stage...

Lies, lies and more lies....

I would take these reports with a grain of salt. Cavani is still with Uruguay in the confed cup and as mentioned by some before, it may only be a fee agreement at best.

LOL

Everyone and their mother knows who's going to be the next Real manager. It's just a formality now and it shouldn't surprise anyone if Real (and Carlo) and Cavani have made contact already.

Falcao, Neymar, Lewandowski all gone :(

If we really wanted Falcao we would've coughed up the cash and got him. Neymar obviously wasn't a target of ours this summer. Lewandowski is arguable, but we never were strongly linked with him anyway.

Those were your targets, not Roman's.

When do we ever pay a transfer fee which equates to what a player is currently worth? Hazard cost more than he was 'worth' - but a lot of the fee in that transfer was to do with potential and simply matching other clubs trying to sign him - and now the transfer fee is starting to look spot on.

Drogba wasn't worth what we paid for him at the time. But again, we paid for potential.

Piazon was absolutely nowhere near worth what we paid for him, and the same could be said for just about any youth player we've ever paid over £2m to sign!

Cavani is probably worth £30m at most based on how many goals he scores and what he brings to a team etc. Throw in £10-£15m for the potential factor now. Then anything else that we pay on top of that £40-£45m is simply to to force Napoli's hand into selling, because really, they don't need to sell do they? And if they do sell, they need money to then buy players to fill his void! They're not mugs. We can't just rip them off.

The reported price makes complete sense.

These sorts of prices are only stupid, for lack of a better word, when a player can't get any better, like the Torres signing, or Madrid signing Kaka and so on.

If you take into account inflation etc, this would be around the same price we payed for Drogba when Drogba was the same age as Cavani currently is. Difference between the two? Cavani tears up Serie A and has broken numerous records now whereas Drogba was just 'very good' in Ligue 1.

(All that bolding of words has turned me on.)

You don't buy arguably the best pure striker in world football easily or cheaply.
