He's scoring at the same pace as Didier did in his first two seasons.

Actually dread to think how internet forums would have responded to Didier. He only really had 2 excellent seasons for us in PL and had a lot of years where his output was pretty poor, if you consider just goal scoring numbers. Didier could be super frustrating in front of goal, but he used to step up big time for the big games which is imo where NJ is totally lacking so far - no leadership qualities.

I don't know why comparisons have to be made between both, as they couldn't be more different putting aside where they come from. DD was playing in the CL before joining us while NJ was a relative nobody prior to his move.

I'll stand by what I've say for months - Jackson's movement would make him a useful winger to stretch defences, but he misses far too many chances (I personally don't see that changing) to lead the line for a club wanting to win trophies at this level.

Whether people believe in Jackson or not, you cant deny we need a quality 2nd option in the striker department.

It's not as glaring an issue as getting a quality CB, but the drop off in quality if Jackson is unavailable, is abysmal.

And that's even considering we have Nkunku, who unfortunately, does not seem to be in it.

Nkunku hasn't been switched on since moving to Chelsea and getting that injury in pre-season.

If he was fit and in-form like his Leipzig days, he would be the #1 option without question.

Ask yourself this, would Jackson be leading the line for our top 4 competitors this season?

Probably not.  He's similar to Duran at Villa, not enough experience to be #1 option yet but enough skill to be playing regularly and chipping in with goals.

(Just waiting for the Jackson fans to come and defend him with xG and "link up play" stats 😁)

We need a striker, a proper striker and have done for many years, but we just keep hoping.

How many years since Conte & Diego Costa had that fight?  😆

Now we're onto young Jackson, Guiu and a 60% fit Nkunku

Wouldn't he? He would surely start at Arsenal over Havertz, probably even a decent chance he'd start for Liverpool? As it happens both teams have been doing very well with pretty poor options for a number 9, because they have goals from the rest of the team.

Why do we need to look at xG? Just look at real numbers. 9 goals and 3 assists from 18 starts - not great but basically on par with most of the good strikers in the league, only Isak and Haaland really notably ahead and Isak's form will probably drop off at some point and NJ's will probably pick up, as goal scoring form seems to be pretty cyclical.

This club needs better than Nicolas Jackson, and we have done for years and years now. We keep pinning the tail on the donkey blindfolded season after season and hoping someone can smash in 25-30 goals instead of going for that killer striker. Gyokeres is the man right now, a proper bully of a CF, direct and scores all types of goals and we should be speaking with him and his camp now not the start of summer.

If we want to be back up with the elite then we have to stop buying shit players who cannot do it on a regular basis
