Literally matched Drogba's output in his first season in the PL. With less experience.

If he turns out to be half as good as Drogba's career (goals in finals, silverware), we'll be able to sell him for a profit in 2-3 years time 😀

Right now, his conversion rate is horrific, think there was a stat out there showing his conversion rate as second lowest amongst strikers who play for a club in the top half of the table (Nunez was the one lower than him).

I'd take Nunez here as well.

Has a worse conversion rate than Jackson.

Nunez takes shots from basically anywhere tho while I have rarely seen Jackson attempt to score from outside the box

Personally, I doubt Jackson will ever be super clinical. He just does not have it in him . The intuition, the decisiveness, that little bit of arrogance. Does not mean he can not hit a golden season once or twice in his career.

But that is a problem many strikers nowadays have. They are asked to do everything. Run the channels, link up play, hold the ball up, and park defensively. Jackson has his uses with his pace and work rate. Ppl like him less than Werner despite being a similar player. But his attitude is often horrific in contrast to  humble Timo. Morata was probably more talented than both but all three have recorded some of the worst misses in history. Attitude surely plays a huge role here.
anyway, as many on here have said, Jackson is not the problem per se , it is that he is asked to be the main man which he clearly is not capable of being.

That, and he doesnt appear to have any neck muscles to head the ball. In itself, not necessarily a problem if he had some redeeming features, as you say shoot on sight.

One of our best strikers historically Jimmy Floyd would do whatever he could to avoid heading, but made up for it with lethal shooting and a deadly partner in crime ie Eidur. Prepared to give him a bit more time -age, first PL season etc but fucking hell he's getting as frustrating as Sterling

Would also be very nice if we had ANY attacking player capable of heading the football in the roster right now. 😅

Andy Cole just talking about him on Sky, said he sees a lot of himself in his first season - ''gets into the best positions but cant sort his feet out, but his biggest stumbling block is confidence. Once he gets that he'll start banging them in'' Hard to see it myself

look at some of these horror misses before we signed him. How bad are our scouts ?

Glad you shared this. Half of these aren't even bad misses. The first 40 seconds alone is him taking terrible shots that were not even a half chance. You could make a montage of most strikers taking dumb shots like this.

Few good saves from the keeper in passes that weren't anywhere near good enough to him.

And then some horror misses no worse than you'd see from the likes of any other striker.

Everything for him is amplified because it hangs by a thin string here at Chelsea.

Plenty of talent and the right tools there. The same numptys that are saying "oh we finally signed a finisher" when the likes of Morata and Lukaku were signed, were the same ones complaining they forgot how to score when they came here.

Fans don't know shit - and he keeps doing the right things. Its a game of numbers, and they will start sinking in with more than a fucking season of experience. Yet fans here dogpile on him because he is an easy scapegoat after the penalty thing - and you can blame it on attitude and the lot.

He is a good footballer now even with his flaws and how frustrating he can be.

"Finishing can't be learnt" - some of you are easy to pick in terms of who has never played a sport at a decent level.

Andy Cole clearly knows a shit tonne more than this forum.

I've read weak wrists for goalkeeper, and how it can't be cured. I've read finishing can't be fixed. I've read players being a final product and can't improve after 21.

Our forum clearly knows everything.

Think Andy Cole is spot on about confidence as well. Osgood used to say the same, As did Bobby Charlton - Cole said that without it the shot is rushed or instantly smashed, once you have confidence you start placing it.

I am still not worried about NJ. Great buy at £32m. Imagine how our year would have been if he wasn't in the squad.

22 years old, first season in the premier league, in tough circumstances. Seems like we are quick to give up on players around here. I for one am thrilled we have this guy, he's only going to get better and the worst case scenario for him is he ends up being a rotation option or moved to play out wide as and when someone emerges getting 20+ a season as a main striker, which if it happened would put us in a phenomenal position.

NJ, Cole Palmer, Enzo, and Malo Gusto are some of the signings I have a lot of long term faith in. Lavia and Nkunku I would if they were not seriously injured all year. Other than that I feel like we have burnt a lot of money on pretty average players (or worse), but I hope to be proven wrong.

When we have players like Disasi, Mudryk and Caicedo starting regularly, we have much bigger problems than Jackson.

For me, Jackson, as Cole says, just needs to get a little more confidence and sort his feet out. For me people are getting too caught up with the finishing. Nico has improved quite a lot with his hold up play and off the ball runs. The chances he got against City last week were a lot down to his own hold-up play/off the ball running. He wasn't doing that at the start of the season - particularly the hold-up play.

I am not saying he will be great or even good enough long term, however at least we have have actually seen improvements in his game this season and he hasn't even been as bad as some of the other players I have mentioned above.

Lastly, he has only had two pro seasons playing in the most difficult position on the pitch. If anyone of the 'project' players we've got deserves some slack, it is him.
