I've seen the reports for Barca regarding Pjanic and Umtiti.

Is there anyone in the Barca squad who wouldn't necessarily be bullet proof for them but possibly a good option for us?

Even on a loan move if they're looking to reduce their wage bill, is there someone we could bring in from them for a season to cover an area in the squad that needs an extra body?

The journalist has also said that Arsenal have improved on their offer to Brighton and has shared details about it. 

Castles said on The Transfer Window podcast, as transcribed by The Express: “My understanding is that this week they (Arsenal) have improved their offer, increased the initial down payment and made the schedule of the payments over the course of the contract more attractive to Brighton. But as yet there is not an agreement between the two clubs on the transfer fee.”

Barca are truly the worst run club in the history of football when you look at total money shit away.

If a firm in the US or UK was run like they are, the directors would likely be facing prison time for fiduciary fraud, and even if they faced no criminal charges, they would be facing massive civil lawsuits.

Example:

They have spent (just ONE player) over £70m (over €82m) on Miralem Pjanić in the last 10 months (transfer fee + add-ons + salary) and now are supposedly willing to let him walk on a free.

It is just insane.

Speaking on his Twitch stream (h/t Express), reputed journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea have made West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice a priority this summer.

Rice has been on the radars of Chelsea for the longest time now. An ex-academy trainee, the England international left the Blues for West Ham in 2014 where he completed his footballing education before bursting onto the scenes in the Premier League as a teenager.

Since then, Rice has grown into one of the best defensive midfielders in the league and has established himself as a permanent fixture in the England national team as well. Indeed, the West Ham star has been brilliant in the ongoing UEFA Euro 2020, helping the Three Lions make it to the semi-finals of the competition.

 

And, Romano has claimed that Chelsea have made the former academy man their priority to strengthen the midfield this summer. Although, he does mention that the Hammers’ valuation could make things difficult. (h/t Express)

“At the moment, Chelsea’s priority in midfield is Declan Rice. If they will sign a midfielder, Declan Rice will be one of the biggest possibilities. Then, they have to find an agreement with West Ham, and it won’t be easy because West Ham are asking for a lot of money for him.”

Romano also claimed that AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni is someone that the club could look at as an alternative to Rice in case a move does not pan out.

“We have to keep an eye on Tchouameni as a possibility for many Premier League clubs, not just for Chelsea. We will see. At the moment there’s nothing imminent.”

Would say Pjanic. I wanted or was hoping the club would sign him when he was at Lyon but that obviously didn't happen and I think the ship has sailed now.

Yeah I couldn't think of many players who they have that would be able to walk into our team currently which as you said speaks volumes for where they are currently.

I was thinking more along the lines of if there was someone we could maybe take on loan for a season if we needed to 'make do' because key targets weren't available. For example would a Pjanic or Sergi Roberto be worth taking for a season whilst Gilmour is out on loan to help fill the gaps?

Pedri and De Jong are the only ones I really rate and we don't really need Pedri with Billy/Jorgi/Kova. 

However, what is interesting with Pedri is that he will be out of contact next season and Barca are already €300m over the new La Liga wage cap. 

Personally, I don't see us getting him but I do see City putting insane money his way. He is perfect for Pep and Gundogan and KdB are both over 30.

Barca are properly fecked, like Leeds 2003 fecked. If anyone cares to actually look at their financial situation they're going bankrupt very quickly as unlike Leeds they cannot even really fire sale owing the the insane wages of their players and/or the low amount of years they have. Ter Stegan and De Jong are probably the only two they have in a reasonable situation (although Ter Stegan is on big, big wages for a GK.)

yes, and two of those (Dest and Emerson Royal) are both RWB/RB's and not my first choices there, but certainly are decent

Ronald Araújo is speculative (nowhere near my top choice for CB)

and Ilaix Moriba, a CMF, is a youth player (turned 18  around 5 months ago, has only 18 career topflight games), albeit with huge potential
