Can someone be deemed "proven in the PL" after one season?

If Cucurella doesn't start the majority of our games this season, someone like Hickey would have been far cheaper option and four years younger.

You pay a little extra for that kind of hair. Every team needs a guy out there that runs around with massive locks flying everywhere to be a proper team! 😅

I would say yes when it becomes blatantly obvious they can cope with the pace of the game.

Pl proven is a myth

but even with there are Tyrick Mitchel, Kieran Tierney and Rayan At-Nouri. at a stretch Aaron Hickey, Mykolenko, Angelino, Jonny Otto or Rico Henry.

if we offered that moeny to liverpool for robertson, chances are they would take it.

Being proven to cope with the pace of the Premier league assures less risk.

I swear we had this same argument two years ago when people were advocating cheaper options in Regulion and Tagliafico over Chilwell.  Tuchel so far has been faultless when it comes to the defence so when he wants his players in, you simply have to trust him.

Of all those options at least 90% of them aren't good enough.

I'm sorry but no! Liverpool would not sell Robertson for the same price as we are paying for Cucarella. The wingback position is fast becoming one of the most important positions on the pitch, if it isn't already. Just look at the downward slope in form we took when Chilly and James were out.

I'm really happy with this. The price is a lot yes but its more cost effective this way (as opposed to selling with a buyback) if Colwill does what we all hope he will do. We get a really good player and keep another potentially great player.

What I'm a bit confused about is many people branding it as an expensive 'depth' signing, or rotation. I don't know if its an underrating of Cucurella or an overrating of Chilwell but imo he's better technically, physically, and tactically off the ball than Chilly. This is pre injury Chilwell, we don't know what he's going to be like moving forward now. But apart from the goals he scored, I haven't really seen anything great about any aspect of Chilwell's game that has made me think he should be a mainstay in the starting 11 for years to come. I think he's a good player, but I think Cucurella will straight up be the first choice LWB now. Simply because he's the better player.

Only drawback I can see from this is if Colwill doesn't perform well, Brighton have absolutely no incentive to carry on playing him as he'll be gone within a year. Fingers crossed he backs up all the hype.

I would have made the Colwill loan a 2 year one, especially if we sign Forfana because it will be hard to fit in two early 20's CB's regardless of how good they are.

Two years time Wesley will be approaching Terry's age in 2004 so should make it a little more viable.

That would've been perfect yeah. 2 year loan with maybe a slightly reduced fee for Cucurella. Think both sides would come out feeling pretty satisfied with that. Whereas the deal currently, from browsing a bit I get the general feeling that Chelsea fans are happy with it, Brighton fans are not. And the 'neutral' fans feel we've got scammed 😄

Age doesn't matter when u play week in week out, I'd take 16 year old Rooney before Ronaldo or kane of now

Put it this way, i'd be very surprised if there's many major league or European cup winners where the squads average age was under 25.

I'm all for giving opportunity to youth but there has to be a balance. If the squad is too young a general lack of experience will get you at crucial times.

Although this is true, there is nothing better than watching fearless youth charging at opponents, Mount does this very well same woth James I think fofanfa Koulibaly and who ever it may be will be fine

Cucurella is a sublime signing, Colwell  is good but he ain't ready yet.

Not a chance he is getting in that back line. The bench is no good for him, playing at Brighton is.

Now De Jong, Fofana and a striker...nice meal great food
