Excerpt -

As one source explained to The Athletic: “I was speaking to one of the players and asked him if anyone was sticking up for Lukaku. He said no. None of them can believe he’s done it.”

Noticeably Tuchel appears to have the backing of the squad for how he dealt with Lukaku. He decided to confer with five or six senior players before making a final decision to omit Lukaku from the Liverpool game. It is believed that Jorginho, Cesar Azpilicueta, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger were among those consulted.

Asked why he felt the need to discuss it with squad members, he replied: “I don’t take decisions in the office or around my thoughts. I take decisions for the team and I listen to them. I hear their opinion, what they think and then I make my decisions once I hear them out. It is their club, their team and it is not a personal thing from me to decide only on my thoughts.

“We have a squad who we protect, which is strong in belief and behaviours. We want a clearer understanding of the situation and take a decision on a bigger foundation.”

Perfect, his rationality and calmness have been key in managing this. Imagine Mourinho or even Conte handling such a situation, it would have been a clusterfuck. Glad to have Super Tommy Tuchel.

Talking about Man United, it seems to me they want to be seen as a hipster club with all those unusual manager appointments. They haven't hired a single world-class manager since Ferguson. How on earth they thought Solskjaer would be it is beyond my comprehension... A guy with only experience managing in Norway and getting sacked by Cardiff within the same year after relegating them. Now they hired a football director from Russia to get them out of the slump. 🤦‍♂️ Long may it continue.

Rangnick is a world class manager. Just ask Tommy. He won the DFB-Pokal and got to the CL semis with fkin Schalke. Most of the footy Klopp, Tuchel, flick and other german coaches now play is based on Rangnick's ideas. He just never choose to work for a big club before. He and ManUre is apparently an ill fit tho.

Manure are just poorly managed overall imo. The board has no clear vision of how they want to develop the club apart from the business side. Similar to our situation tbf but our board is still a tad smarter and we managed to pass that winning mentality on from the Mourinho side. ManUre lost it when Fergie left.

It could change with Ragnick moving to the director role, no? Question is who they hire as manager to succeed him.

I don’t think they would do that if he failed as coach there. The fit would still not be better. Just as RR has never coached those big star players before he also has never decided on buying any. He specialises in builiding hungry, energetic  young teams. If Manure were to adhere to that mission, he could be great as director but I doubt the glazers will allow him the time even in that role. They want to generate marketing revenue with big name signings not built a footballing future. RR does have a 2 year consultancy contract in the bag tho. So he might retain some Influency in any case

In 24 hours we could potentially be only 3 points ahead of West Ham. If Arsenal will their two games in hand, we will be only 2 points ahead of them. Matter of fact, if Spurs somehow win their 4 games in hand, they will be ahead of us by 2 points.

Lot of hypotheticals but if we end the season with another battle for Top 4, where do we assess Tuchel in all of this considering there has been zero improvement and another chunk of money invested?

Here we go again...and its hard cause like you say the table is all over the place. Can't look at our postion and say we're okay cause we've played more games then others. If we get drawn into another stupid top 4 battle after being top..urghhh
