The Mourinho Thread

Blaming tonight's performance solely on the strikers is a poor excuse. Cavani and Ibra both had shit games tonight and yet they still outclassed us.

Signing Cavani or Costa is not magically going to improve our build up play, ability to break down packed defenses, decision making in the final third and crossing.

There's a reason Drogba had by far his best season under Ancelotti rather than Jose.

So Blanc is a better manager than Jose? You're having a laugh.

No manager is perfect and Mou surely has to take some of the blame that our form has depreciated in this final part of the season, with onyl 1 out of 7 away wins. That problem to motivate his players in the very crucial moment was also evident last year in Madrid. Let's hope he has not lost his touch and bounces back.

And he had the guts to call Arsene Wenger a specialist in Failure, he is the failure for failing to fix our scoring problems and set piece problems all season. His not won anything in 2 years by the way

In the league with Barcelona and Messi? how could this be?

1. How you would call 8 years without winning anything then?

2. Fixing our scoring problems meaning getting someone up their who can score. Unless you suggest Mourinho goes on he pitch and does it himself

3. Technically, he's won a trophy last season by the way

No, but it gives the defenders something to think about. It would put them under pressure, drag them out of position, keep them honest, not allow them to cheat up, not give them such an easy ride....

I just don't see how people can't see that the lack of a proper striker compresses the space because defences push up and don't have to worry about balls behind. Eto'o at least provides interplay options and makes the right runs (even if his body doesn't quite allow him to reach the ball).

Case in point - Azpi plays the ball right across the six yard box on Saturday and Torres simply doesn't make the run 99% of strikers run. As for Ancelotti, he was the guy who gave his blessing to sign Torres so easy on the praise when it comes to his magical ability to make strikers work.

As much as I agree with the point of this post, let's not kid ourselves that Ancelotti had anything to do with the transfer of Torres from Liverpool to Chelsea football club. That was Romans Mafia flexing our power at a time when we were the current 'money bags' of the scene.

I don't know why I remember this play clearly, but in the second half Ivan was released on the wing and delivered a cross. It was a poor one to be fair. But just just before he delivered it, the camera angle was wide enough to capture all our players in the box. Willian was running in, Hazard running in, Torres ( being fresh and should have the flair to change things) was walking. Don't know the defender that was with him, but he didn't seem worried.
