Destroyed? Mata is still useless like he was for Chelsea, Lukaku a good ST for mid table teams, and De Bruyne was the only one capable of doing something for a big team (and still far from the quality many here think he has)...

> De Bruyne failed to make an impact and wanted out. Most people here praised his sale.

> Mata lost his place to Oscar, who was much better than him last season. He has been awful for United. Will probably be booted from there as well when they sign Jose.

> Lukaku refused to be second to Costa. Rightfully sold for good price

Wrong, De Bruyne was only given a handful of games even after he showed promise in the pre season friendlies. Mata was our two time player of the year but benched and sold because he didn't fit Jose's opinion of a #10. You both seem to be fans that can see no wrong in Jose even after he left our club 1 point from relegation. I can maybe understand this because your both Portuguese and want to support Jose as your countryman.

Also calling another Chelsea fan mentally retarded is quite weak. I would personally never call another fan that. Why dont you show some more class next time mate and Im sure the mods will give you a warning. But looks like you will cheer for Jose no matter what so once he gets appointed as Man Utd's new manager I will be glad you go and support the man and not our club.

Can't tell if troll or downright mentally retarded.

As Parky has said, please refrain from insulting people like that, it's not needed and it won't be tolerated.

Calm down.

Have a horrible feeling he's going to go to United and lead them to the title.

How funny would that be eh?

Yeah but he'd destroy their future apparently.

Although I suspect he might build united back to what they once were and the two Manchester clubs will dominate the league for a decade.

"Choices were made by me. By me. Not by them. Everyone says it is Mourinho’s fault but it is not his fault because I made the decision. I went to his office to ask if I could go. He was the first one to say: ‘Good luck.’" Romelu Lukaku

Can anyone verify this? Sports Bible is hardly the most reputable source.

Lets get away from this demonisation of managers for getting rid of or acquirng the wrong personnel.

Yes they have some input but we know our transfer dealings are brokered by Maria, Emanalo has the final say in youth and first team appointments, and Abramovich isnt averse to sticking his oar in for fantasy football (shevchenko).

When it comes to Lukaku, I dont even believe him when he says it was his decision, his agent would have touted and engineered the move, probably citing his clients probable lack of first team time, all the while salivating at 10%.

while salivating at 10%.

This is the real problem in football - it's bigger than anything else.

Agents are absolute wankers and it's getting worse, they don't care about their clients or the club, they just want their commission and if that means dripping poison into the players ear, so be it.

I can easily imagine calls like "Well you definitely deserve to be playing, it's scandalous that you are not blah blah"

"I have heard that Everton really like you and would give you 100% game time, what they are doing there is really special blah blah"

So the manager is pretty fucked, every team selection will lead to a call with the dropped player's agent etc,

This is why 'loyalty' is now a misnomer in football

Yes, Jose could and probably should have handled Lukaku better, but for me the agents have a lot to answer for...

Mata has lost form in early 2013 and hasn't been anywhere near the same since.

KDB fair enough, but Mata has shown nothing to suggest selling him was a mistake, infact last season he only got 4 assists, Oscar and Willian have got critisised for low numbers but for a supposed creative genius to only get 4 assists in a season is awful.

When it comes to talking about Mata at United, people like to ignore the fact that he hasn't played in his best position and that he's always being used wide, under Moyes and Van Gaal. Oscar - in the No.10 position, his best position - hasn't even come anywhere close to matching Mata's performances, goals and assists when he played in that same role for us.

He was number ten in second half of 12/13 when he started to go off the boil.

Also, out of position is an excuse to a point, but not for how much he's gone off the boil. Anelka, Modric, Azpilicueta, David Silva, Bale, prime Ivanovic, were played out of their best positions and did well.
