Tomo 21,751
Actually that is a good point, I am sure Jose won't mind that. The thing is since when did we gave up on 1 big trophy, Remember 07-07, 07-08 and others when we challenged for both, that is a small team mentality imo.Agreed but it is not 1 off though, but 2. The thing is again they were 2-0 up, if it had been 1-0 to Arsenal they would have gone full ultra attack. Madrid imo is the scariest, best attack and defence in Europe atm, they look stronger than Bayern of last season imo where there is no all these messing passing about but just full on attack until 2,3-0 up then sit back.Carlo had the stronger team you sure? in the season that Inter won the competition... Yep I agree too can't waitWe won the CL in 2012 but we were inferior to all our opponents from Napoli onwards, and i include Benfica in that. I believe in 09-10 our squad was better than Inter's, but they had Jose and we didn't, as much as i love Carlo, Jose is a level above him. In terms off it being a tie it's a one off, manager's prepare effectively for a 180 minute match, which is why first leg's in the latter stages can turn into tedious game's off chess, cause really it's a 90 minute first half. It doesn't work to go full on defensive just because they are a better team like City found out eventually or Milan 1st leg. Not good to go all out attack either like Arsenal. But I am sure in Jose he will know what to do, just hope he doesn't repeat the fk up of Dortmund last season again if we get Madrid/Bayern, need to play like against City imo. LAB 1,030
True, we are no small team to think like that. But without Matic and a proper striker i simply cannot realisticly put us favourites for CL. Also the importance of PL is not because of some disbelieve of me that we cannot expect anything from CL, but is genuinely first in my preference list since I think it's what we need right now. That means if I had to choose one, I'd choose PL 100%
Toli 977
I think we can beat anyone at UCL right now except Real Madrid. Bayern would be difficult but I believe we can do it. I hardly see us beating RM right now but I believe Bayern can beat them. I guess Bayern is a bad match up for them and they're a bad match up for us because of the teams' styles.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 4G using TapatalkIts easier to play against Real than Bayern though. dont get why you think we could beat Bayern eager than Madrid. Madrid are not a team for now (a lot of individualism in the system), while Bayern is a PERFECT team. dont think that the Super Cup result is relevant at all. this was the beginning of the season and Bayern was nowhere as good as they are now. Bayern could also easily smash us, if they have a very good day. Bayern would be really the least opponent I would like to have. Madrid is more vulnerable, especially in defense and on counter-attacks. Futhermore their system isnt worked out yet and has some flaws in it. especially when the opponent is pressing them high on the pitch, they are looking lost at times (Atletico game for example). Bayern is the best team in the world right now and we would struggle with their speed and their pressing. Especially with Matic missing and our pivot being not that good.Best opponent would be Piräus/United though without a doubt. Atletico,Dortmund, Barca would be tough opponents, but beatable. PSG, Real, Bayern would be the least I want.

I think Bayern's style is less challenging for us than RM. Simple like that, never said Bayern is a better or worse team nor that it would be easy. We drew with Bayern in a glorified friendly a week after we were slammed by Real Madrid - in case you don't remember... All three teams progressed a lot since then, but I think the difficulties each team offers would still be the same and I think we can handle better a possession team like Bayern, than an explosive, offensive and mainly objective Real Madrid. You talk about Bayern not being the same team then, but you seem to ignore we aren't the same as well. I'm talking about styles, not simply about those matches, but I think one thing we can take from those matches is that RM and Bayern improved, but they didn't change their philosophies. I hope we don't get either, but between the two of them, I'd rather Bayern. LAB

Just shows that a consistent defence equals consistent results, the best form off defence is to attack notion is bullshit, we have been picking off those type off teams for years. duo11bluecl and robdog

bushman 2,043
I just watched the press conference. Jose says the squad is too thin now. Then I would like to ask. At the beginning of this season, Chelsea had plenty of players, players were sitting around, but now the team is too thin?

Share Posted March 14, 2014 Ballack's time here is massively overrated. The great thing about the internet is that someone at some point will say something that has never been said, perhaps never even been thought before.Personally I think he's the most balanced footballer I've ever seen. Technically he's up there with the Gullits, Hoddles and Zolas for the majesty with which he would sometimes stride across the pitch. Tall, strong, good in the air, great with both feet, a howitzer of a shot and a real leader of men. Lost one Champions League final on penalties and screwed out of another one by that bald cunt.Overrated. didierforever, Caeruleus, CHOULO19 and 4 others

Gilvorak 3,734
Essien over Ballack easily. It shouldn't even be debatable either. Ballack only came good for us after Avram Grant took over.PF over Ivanovic and FOR NOW...Cole over Hazard too. The Skipper 20,609
FOR NOW...Cole over Hazard too. Why?Cole was never as talented as Eden. I think the front three of Hazard - Drogba - Robben is definitely the strongest one we'd have. Mufassir08 and Rmpr
The Skipper 20,609
Personally my team would probably be this:CechEssien - Carvalho - Terry - ColeMakeleleBallack - LampardRobben - Drogba - HazardI know Essien is not a RB but I want both him and Ballack in the team. However, if I had to chose between the two it'd probably be Essien.
