This is good, would love to see the club focus on value for money signings and try to unearth some talents rather than having to spend big money and watch them put in inconsistent performances week after week (Havertz, Pulisic, Lukaku, Ziyech etc).

Steffen Freund would be rather far from being my first choice. In Germany he is mostly known for his extremely unprofessional, yelly, awkward and vulgar appearances as EL commentator which do not exactly reflect favourably upon his football competence. Also there is his Spurs history. Admittedly, I have no further insight on his precise achievements at RBS. but if there are any it has had no impact on his parlous reputation here in Germany.

Christoph Freund is impressive but at the same time his history at Salzburg, they are a feeder club and the type of signings, are we going to have such an environment where these players who may be seen as unknowns come here and play straight away? Or if we go the multiple club route will they be signed by others with the long term in mind? Its going to be interesting to see if he can find these players who can contribute straight away and where time isn’t necessarily going to be a saving grace as there is a clear higher focus on short term as well as the long run in the clubs recent history - something that I don’t see changing with the new owners.

Any major financial investment group will be invested heavily in oil and energy production. Too much profit to ignore.

Agree - my point was any group of people with a vested interests in several top clubs opens the possibilty for manipulation. Not that we need to worry we already have UEFA and Anthony Taylor covering that

Freund still has to agree his exit from Salzburg as mentioned by Romano.  Just because he agreed terms with Chelsea doesn't mean that this current club will grant his release from contract.

Wonder if we go for someone else, Campos would have been nice but I don't see him leaving PSG anytime soon.

Freund is the key to their philosophy and structure, I doubt they will let him leave. He is worth more to them than Haaland and Mane combined.

But with the work Freund and others have done for them over the past decade or so they also have a clear structure in place so they should also be able to replace him a bit easier and continue with the same principles, no? It's possible they even have someone within the club who could be promoted to take on the role, someone who already knows the club culture for a seamless transition.

It seems any move for Freund is a lot further away as the reports from a few days ago made it seem but then again they were never going to just roll over and hand him to us without putting up a fight. If the man really wants to go and Boehly is willing to pay to get him, a deal is still definitely possible. Players and managers get poached by bigger clubs all the time and usually it's just a case of agreeing the payment terms so why would it be any different for a director? But if the man himself is open to staying and not pushing hard for a move, he'll probably end up staying. In that case be interesting to see who the alternative is for Boehly.
