BlueLion. 21,491
please explain how on earth Torres deserves boos? that is an absolutely ridiculous thing to say!I thought Torres done pretty well tonight under the circumstances playing against 3 top class CB's he worked his socks off and as Pat Nevin said again Torres sacrificed himself for the team yet again, and i applaud Torres for that. and yet again as has happened many times since he joined us he was free on his own at the back post ready for a tap in but his team mate decides to shoot instead of pass.I have no worries with Torres he is putting a shift in week in week out and he will start against Stoke on Saturday and probably score.again people are acting as if Torres missed three 1 on 1's and gave away the ball every time he had it yesterday! when are people on here going to speak with some sense about Torres and stop going way OTT because he doesn't score 5 goals a game!!!I'm all for criticizing a player who is not performing but the way people speak about Torres on here is a joke! That's the point. He isn't performing.Mikel, Ramires, hell even Terry - they got far worse criticism last night for below-par performances. Torres didn't even bother. He just walked around and sulked, and every now and again got into a trot, only to lose the ball and sulk a little bit more.As far as I'm concerned, a player that puts in no effort doesn't warrant the support of the club's fans. pHaRaOn
Popular Post! Styles 9,790 Posted September 20, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted September 20, 2012 Torres' problem is that he doesn't excel at anything. There isn't a single aspect of his game that can be considered a strong point. He can't hold the ball up, his touch is inconsistent, he is a weak minded player with no courage physically or mentally, he doesn't have pace anymore, no awareness...I can go on all day. He doesn't have a single reliable quality to fall back on. His all round game is pathetic. He is completely irrelevant to the team game and it's like playing with 10 men with a stranger upfront doing his own thing. I can't believe just how poor a player he actually is. Disappointed isn't even the half of it. He's awful. Term-X, The Rising Sun, Amblève. and 6 others
BlueLion. 21,491
^ totally agree with you Jay. We've come up with so many embarrassing excuses for his lameness and lethargy. Fact is; he's completely past it and Liverpool - though they spent the bulk of it on utter dirge - can still laugh at us for pulling off the biggest con in transfer window history. This makes the money we paid for Veron look a steal.
Rowan_Osborn 58
Well I don't know if I'm the only one, but he showed his will to play and fight yesterday. He just can't dribble past 3 players which are covering him and that's his problem.Yeah its almost like he is trying too hard to prove his quality, when it would be better to just pass to his supporting players. He got completely marked out in the second half by Chiellini alone when switching to the right flank. Not trying to criticise Hazard or anything cause he was really hard working and dangerous when given space last night. But I think we've gotta give Torres a break, I thought he played pretty well last night, fighting for most balls, held up well. Chances just didnt come his way and he didnt get much room with his back to goal and 3 defenders around.

BleedsBlue 1,549
Torres does not suck.He just does not suit our style and I am sure if he plays for some team like Arsenal,he will score plenty.Probably best if we part ways with the Spaniard in the winter and sign some striker who does not depend solely on service. It is quite ridiculous. Kezman use to work hard and drop deep but he was awful at us. Does that mean we should keep him? Not at all. Torres is here to score. I hope that if you and the other people who like Torres for is work ethic are not the same ones wanting Malouda out because it is horribly contradicting. Malouda works hard but many people don't appreciate this and think he is a crap player. I don't think Torres is awful but he is not good enough to be our no.1 for a whole season. But I find it a concern that in our last 3 matches: Atletico, QPR and Juventus Torres has been a mere spectator. Not good enough for a £50m striker, regardless of how much effort he puts in. Stats 7,142
The real problem is that he is history. He is not good enough anymore, like Owen they were both brilliant at Liverpool but they are not good enough to replicate the same form at any other club
communicate 2,703
I have criticized Torres plenty of times but saying that he is not good at anything is really harsh.Torres is a poacher whose game is all about working the channel and he thrives on quick and fast through ball ( just watch his Liverpool goal highlight, most of them come from quick floating pass ) against 3 men defense, you can find channel mostly on the wingHaving said that, I always think he does not suit the way we play. KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
Work rate means little to nothing as a striker. Look at Gomez and Berbatov. Torres needs to create his own space and chances. Oscar didn't need any service for his 2nd goal. We need Falcao.
warnie_666 1,081
Torres was against the best defense in the Europe. He was up against 3 CBs. One on 3 is unfair. They completely blocked him out. Our two goals were from outside the box.I would give him two more games to showcase his talent.
