There is a belief that it can be "his season" and there is a fear that he will continue to be a big flop.

I don't like those types of gamble.

I don't like how we're tripping over to ensure he's the main man and won't be challenged. Look at Drogba, he had to fight off so many players to cement himself as first choice striker. His ego can't be that fragile, and if it his, he's a liability.

Definitely not. Every EURO participants (from our team) given about 2-3 weeks of holiday. Will most likely to join with the squad next week.

100% agree!

Although I have previously raised this point and been subjected to stats proving Torres had lots of chances created. Thing is, my own eyes just didn't see that - last night we looked more fluid and pacey ala Spain.

I bet Torres can't wait to be up front with Ramires, Sturridge, Marin, Hazard, Mata and potentially Moses and Oscar to supply him with ammunition. I'd be itching to play.

I just want to get something off my chest:

In my opinion, all this talk about "Torres won the CL and FA cup including the Euros" especially when using it to compare him to other players is totally ridiculous.

Firstly, it's not as if he won it all by himself.

Secondly, I think overall despite the trophy wins, the season was still a little embarrassing for Torres personally. Yes he did play a part in our wins (I'm not taking it away from him, don't get me wrong) but at the same time, he did not start a single one of our "big games".

Our crucial games this season in the run up to those 2 trophies were Valencia, Napoli x2, barca x2, spurs, Liverpool and Bayern. He didn't start a single one. He didn't even come on as a substitute in some of them, including the FA Cup final. He wasn't trusted by Spain to start either. He only started two (?) games.

In Munich, Bertrand and Kalou were chosen over him because of their added defensive values. Salomon Freaking Kalou. Kalou was kept on because of his extra penalty value. Only when Bayern scored did Robbie bring Torres on.

So this talk, especially regarding Cavani is really ludicrous imo

Look, I don't want to seem like a Torres hater, I'm really not. But I'm totally not deluded by his form despite winning three trophies and the euro golden boot. In my eyes, he had an above average season. Just slightly above average and most of his value came from his assists throughout the season. I still don't trust him 100% to become a regular goal scorer for us but I just hope that he looks at last season as a positive and thinks about the fact that he will be playing with Hazard, Marin and Oscar (hopefully) this season instead of Kalou and Malouda. Thankfully his confidence definitely looked to be rising as compared to that Heskeyish player we saw in 2010-2011.
