No one is comparing. It is comparing the "big chances" that Chelsea get compared to City and they just happen to be the strikers.

The quality of "big chances" Chelsea get isn't close to that of Man City. That is the point.

Yes! and not only the quality, the abundance of them, the dominance the team exerts (or not), how many touches the striker gets (or not), whether the team is chasing a result often, is he played ball to feet or ball into space? high balls or low crosses, how many teammates does he have in support? many so many variables...

Ironically, another thing that hurts Jackson is not having a proper senior striker backup. Imagine a Giroud type who could share the blunt of physicality and rotate with him? It's common practice in football, for ex, to employ the more physical striker first, and once the CBs are mellowed out (as in tired and beaten up) in the second half, then get the pacier one in.

He still missed many sitters.

As does every top striker. The amount of quality of chances he receives is the difference. He'll miss a sitter than won't get anything else all match. Liverpool and West Ham immediately come to mind.

It's not a case of Jackson being the final product doing perfectly fine, but not getting service. It's also not the case of a team firing in all cylinders providing good service only to be let down by a struggling striker.

It's both and cause/consequence gets mixed up.

It's a struggling team, built from scratch, with too many young inexperienced players, which make it a hard environment for an also young and relatively inexperienced striker to thrive. Had we had a more senior striker rotating with Jackson, and we might have been in a better position, including Jackson himself.

Once again, why many of us questioned what the club was doing regarding transfers. Nothing happening should be a surprise tbh.

We gonna have Nkunku in January to replace him so we should be fine even if we don't sign new striker in early January. 3/4 PL games,  first game in Fa Cup and potentially very important this season semis in League Cup which is double header.

Spurs gonna lose both starting players in pivot.

‘Let’s be honest’: Peter Crouch suggests 22-year-old Chelsea player isn’t good enough after Brentford loss

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/news/lets-be-honest-peter-crouch-suggests-22-year-old-Chelsea-player-isnt-good-enough-after-brentford-loss/

Chelsea FC v Brentford FC - Premier League

Peter Crouch suggests Nicolas Jackson doesn’t posses the quality to be Chelsea’s first-choice striker after watching his latest performance.

Chelsea’s disappointment at Stamford Bridge continued on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 2-0 home loss against London rivals Brentford in the Premier League. Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo netted second-half goals to gift the visitors all three points.

The Blues now have just one victory in their last 13 league games at home, which is an alarming record for this team.

Chelsea struggles

Yes, Chelsea have scored a few goals recently and looked better going forward. It was the same old issue in attack that cropped up versus Brentford, though.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side recorded 17 shots during Saturday’s match, but only two were on target.

Nicolas Jackson was recalled to the starting line-up against Brentford to lead the line, but yet again he couldn’t find the killer touch in the opposition’s penalty box. The 22-year-old striker eventually saw his game fizzle out.

Pundit Peter Crouch isn’t certain that the Senegal international is good enough for Chelsea moving forward.

“Nicolas Jackson, let’s be honest, is not going to be the answer long-term. He does a lot of great work outside the box, but is he going to get you 15-20 goals? I don’t think so,” Crouch told TNT Sports 2 (3:10pm, 28 October).

Nicolas Jackson wastes chance

It certainly wasn’t the return to the starting line-up that Jackson will have hoped for.

We agree that the young centre-forward does get into some clever positions. He’s got a decent work rate and desire, too.

Unfortunately, he’s not fitting all the pieces of the jigsaw together right now when he’s in the penalty area.

A recent report from The Daily Mail named Jackson as one of the Premier League’s worst signings of the summer.

We still think that the striker has something to offer this squad moving forward, but there’s no disguising that the club may need to go invest more money to bring in a world-class No 9.

Poch...

'If you watch the game against Liverpool, Dortmund or Luton, in different circumstances he’s a different player. It is dangerous to make this analysis on one game.

'Nico was not at his best, but if you watch him in other games he’s one player, if you see [the] Brentford [game] he’s another player. We have to be fair with our analysis, we need to give time to him. I believe in him.'

I seriously doubt Jackson ever has a year like Trashford did last season

30 goals, 11 assists

EL and cups are evidently great for stat padding but seriously can’t understand all the ridiculing of Trashford. Since he burst onto stage 6 years ago he has delivered double figures over all comps almost every season, filling in various positions. One of the few good things coming out of Manure during that time. Imagine we had a proper striker coming out of the academy with that sort of output.

I would take him in a flash
