This is normal because we've hit rock bottom anyone outside Potter and you upgrade massively immediately.

Mourinho would genuinely destroy everything we're trying to do.

As shit as Potter is being he will leave a good enough squad that plays relatively progressive football for the next coach.

The big difference with Arteta was that the DNA and identity he wanted to install was clear from day 1. He wanted to replicate Pep’s Man City in North London. The ideas were clear from the jump even when the results didn’t come right away.

While I do agree it's a different situation that should not be comparable I have to respectively call BS that the signs with Arteta were there from day one.

His football in the first 12-18 months couldn't have been so far contrasting from Pep's if it tried to be, Arsenal were Burnley/Stoke level of a defensive shithouse team. Look at the two league games against us that season for example, they were camped in their own box for all bar the first 20-25 minutes of The Emirates game.

Bar Saka he was not even playing the youth until Auba, Luiz and Willian breaking Covid protocol forced his hand. He loaned out Saliba (twice) in favour of keeping Rob Holding while Martenelli, Smith Rowe etc were lucky if they made the bench.

I think there are two distinct aspects here: 1. intent and 2. application implementation (the better word)

I agree that there was little we could see in the first season and +. That's absolutely expected especially in a drastic chance in style with the same players, some of which completely incapable of working in that system (e.g. Ozil and Auba). I'm actually surprised Xhaka has been able to adapt considering he's a bit on the slow side for that system.

Regarding intent, I cannot imagine that Arsenal did not know the intent of what Arteta was going for. Everyone did.... I did and I cannot read minds. Evidently, that's what he learned and believed in after years working with Pep.

Potter? I have no idea what the intent is and I don't see anything tangible on the pitch. I also don't see anything special at Brighton either. Good team, that plays competitively at that level and that's it. Seen a bunch of different clubs do the same over the years.

heh, the clubs getting silverware are the ones backed by a lot of funds who buy the top players who are ready to play and compete at this level. They sprinkle that team with a couple of younger players, who are also bought for a lot of money. Sorry, I see youth systems as a good way to make/save money, but not a saving grace for silverware... not at this level. The top clubs use the whole World as a pool of players; because they can.

people need to stop compare arteta path with potter path

potter arrived at this club and Chelsea last year was 3nd and reach two cup finals and was eliminated by currently european champions in extra time!!!

in other hand, arteta inherited a problematic arsenal team with shit years in his "hand"

besids Chelsea spend a insane amount of money

stop compare both journeys please!

We aren’t comparing his situation with Arteta. The problem is that THE OWNERS are judging him like Arteta.

If were up to most of us he’d be gone. But they think we should just flounder at rock bottom like this for who knows how long in hopes that Potter “pulls an Arteta.”

At this point it feels like they don’t want to deal with the humiliation of sacking 2 managers in the same season. They don’t want to face the fact that the man they hand picked as the shepherd of the “New Chelsea” is out of his depth.

We are the worst scoring '€800m to €900m (let alone the billion plus we are rated at, T Markt just tied us for first overall with Citeh at €1.05 billion) in player valuation' team in football history.

#facts

Potter OUT.

He is drowning and taking us with him.

What about Ernesto Valverde as the next manager to come in??

He has won things and has pretty high win percentages at all the clubs he has managed.

I'm not sure what his style of play is but reading he is very attack minded.

What i like the most with Potter is that he is doing all the logical expected moves even majority of fans wanted.

Dropped 3 atb system and is now playing long time favourite 4231

After Fulham everyone wanted to see Mount and Gallagher benched and he did it.

Same with Cucurella after WH.

And now dropped Havertz.

Unfortunately results are still missing. But the positive is that he sees what all of us see which cannot be said about many previous stubborn managers we had.

First thing first, we can't compare Potter with managers like Pep, Klopp, TT or a Carlo. This 4 managers have different strength but are good in tactics, motivation or have a great authority. It make sense to trust a proven manager. Look what Pep did at barca or Klopp at BVB, it's amazing! to trust in process with such managers is easy.

I mean arsenal was shit before Arteta, it was hard for them to get Tier 1 players or managers. And Artera learned from one of the best in the world, it makes sense for them to try something new. Like a lot of you guys&girls already said" We were not in the same situation ( we were not in this situation 6 months ago, but with Potter's work we are finally like arsenal but befor Arteta)

We never had the problem with philosophy, I mean: winning is our aim. We had always top managers, some world-class players and a lot of Tier 2-3 players, because of Marina. And the managers did a great job, won trophys and improved some players. Now we have a crazy talented team but a tier 3 manager. Many our coaches from the past deserved this trust but not Potter. I mean, I won the same amount of trophys like him and I promise you, I will make at least the same amount of points vs Southampton. Trust in me, I got my license from the cereals pack.

I just dont get it, TB want the best players and the best staff but a shitty manager, why?

Ps: sorry for my english

That's not a positive because he's unable to get the results to prove that he made the right decisions.
By losing to Southampton without Havertz, Cucurella and co in the side, he'll just revert back to playing them again in the hope that we somehow win the next game...

The biggest issue I have with Potter is that he has zero personality and no fighting spirit.  That was a pathetic performance today, there is no way you allow the worst team in the league come to your home and walk away with 3 points.

UEFA only check teams regarding FFP that qualify for European comps. So if we miss out we are safe. It's genius when you think about it. 4D chess right there.

There is FFP in the PL monitored by the FA, professor. Everyone else is playing chess, we are playing Ludo.

Not sure, if playing 4231 with a team that lacks "1" is logical move tbh. But just wanted to have a little laugh at "what fans wanted" part, because just look into the transfer part of this forum and try to imagine wtf would happen to this club if Roman would be buying players fans wanted 😅

Turns out the "logical" moves people call for are maybe logical, but not productive and there could be some point to previous manager's stubbornness… Maybe they just knew what they are doing after all?

I hope the answer is not "to prove the point", as it would be a terrible news for all of us for next 10 years.

There used to be this shock and sentimentality towards the managers that Abramovich constantly removed - but at least that model worked.

Not remedying mid table mediocrity, with 'jam tomorrow' this mentality will become toxic in the long run. Club and results first.

While getting a bit sack happy has lead to problems such as players the new manager might not have a vision for etc..If we could see improvements and a vison but just not coming together yet it wouldn't be so bad..except we haven't and it's pretty dire.

Arteta learnt from Pep and even managed to finish 8th and win a trophy before shooting up the table to where they are now...I dont know what his aim is..or plan. I thought maybe we'd get Europa but we're 7 behind and we can't win soo guess not

At this point we don’t want to finish in the Europa Conference places, whatever those are. I don’t even know.

A “clean” season next time where we can focus solely on the PL would be beneficial. Having to travel to random countries to play a bunch of clubs nobody has ever heard of and risk injuries sounds miserable.

Only way we get Europa League proper from here is if we sack Potter soon and a top coach instantly turns us around.

Nahh just general Europa sod the spin off version. Tbf I think in a week or so we can focus on the league anyway unless manage to score 2..which we haven't for months sooo.

I dont think he's going. They keep coming out or maybe trying to convince themselves they've done the right thing
