And before they went down I did a post saying that we were European Champions and top of the league yet there wasn't a lot of positivity around the place. The reason for that was that there wasn't a lot to be positive about. The loss of our wing backs did hamper us but we were miles short of convincing even before that. Blue Armour 4,466
Does Kovacic need to remind Tuchel that he still plays here? Anyway. Only complaint for me. Winning against Everton away and starting the season with a win is massive. Hope Kouliabaly just had cramps.
Johnnyeye 7,517
considering our last visits here ended in defeat i will gladly take 3 points and a clean sheet. Fuck Everton Norfolkblue1961, King Kante and Vesper
MoroccanBlue 5,384
Massive result given our record there. T.Silva is not human. Glad Tuchel took off both Mount and Havertz. Unacceptable performance from both. Cucurella immediate impact when he came on and Tuchel better start utilising Broja. All the tools to become an elite ST. Get in. Pizy 18,994
It was true all preseason long and it happened once again today. Our wingbacks (and Reece in particular) didn’t really get forward and contribute to the attack at all. The main feature of our play all season last year. What’s the deal? Anyways, some positives and some worrying signs. The 3 points is all that matters but there are several issues that aren’t easy fixes. Goal scoring at a reliable clip is going to be a huge problem again. Sterling was the only attacker who looked good today. Mount and Havertz were totally anonymous. Not helped by Kante and Jorgi being poor on the ball today. On the plus side, Koulibaly looked good if a little rusty with his passing at times. Cucu instantly looked quicker and more precise on the ball than Chilly.

That’s depressing.. But for the fact that we're accustomed to seeing our team perform like this it would be possible to believe that we were watching two relegation candidates, not one. ZAPHOD2319 4,823
I don’t know if I have ever seen a team try to run down the clock……..from halftime. Mount and Havertz did nothing today. I will be patient but we have no attack preseason or that game.

King Kante 1,643
We lack match fitness. Will have trouble next week against Spuds if we are so lethagic again as they were at it all game today. Either way, I think we'll play our way into form this season. Additionally, I will take 3pts from Goodison regardless of performance everytime. Chillwell deserves more credit for what he did today, despite lacking match fitness. He also won the penalty for this game. Having said that, Cucurella is first choice to start our next game for sure. Great debut. Blues11
Magic Lamps 11,692
Expectedly a very rusty performance, but showed nice resilience to grind out the 3 at our bogey ground. Our attack was non-existent but that is what you get, when you play all 3 (5 with subs) attackers out of position. When will TT learn that Kai and Broja are useless on the left, Puli on the right. We need our AMs to have their shooting feet facing goal ffs. Even when Broja came on, instead of putting him as striker where he belongs, and Sterling on the left, where he belongs, we had broja (left footed) as winger/LAM again. Vice versa for pulisic. Just frustrating. Chilwell was super rusty and the game went to quickly for him but yet he won the game for us. Everton and that poor excuse of a player Doucoure must be kicking themselves. Given how Chilwell was bumbling his way through the game, he would have fallen over his own feet any second if Doucoure had not come in and felled him himself. Thanks for that. Popular Post! Blues11 213 Posted August 6, 2022 Popular Post! Share Posted August 6, 2022 Not surprised at our offensive struggles. It's going to continue vs the bottom table teams. When you deploy three CBs against a team looking to park the bus it doesn't make much sense. I've always loved the 343 against teams like City and Liverpool because you know they'll be aggressive and you'll have chances to counter. Against Everton, why don't you put an extra man in the midfield or in attack initially? Then if you grab the lead and it gets late I have no problem playing with an extra defender. We're just way too predictable to play against. To play this formation week in and week out we need a new midfielder with an ounce of creativity and a proper striker for it to work. If not expect a grudge match on most weeks against anyone. We'll take the three though... mkh, Johnnyeye, DDA and 3 others 5
