Pizy 18,897
The thing you normally have to worry about with these giant keepers is how quick they are laterally. How fast they can shuffle their feet across goal and how quickly the can sprint out to smother a ball on the ground. But to be honest, I'd take the trade off of being slightly weaker in those areas if we got a dude who can utterly dominate anything close to him in the air and who is a dominant shot stopper. Curious to hear what some of the French league experts have to say about him if these links are true. Haven't heard a thing about him before. kellzfresh

Back in 2019 when Mendy was still at Reims, he was asked to rank the GKs in Ligue 1 and he picked him at number 1 ahead of Lopes(Lyon) and Maignan(Lille). He also said PL teams must be tracking him because they like big goalies. Back then, he thought it would be difficult for a french team to sign him as there were many teams interested. Tells you how highly he rates him. He always talks on french TV about how he likes GKs who are really big and explosive so they can get to the ground very quickly despite their height. Strange how we haven't been hearing anything about their keeper situation. Martinez said publicly that he wouldn't stay to sit on the bench. Its probably true because Espn Brazil is very reliable and the journalist is friend of Neymar senior, and Messi said in the end of last transfer window that Bartomeu was not doing enough to sign Neymar. Also, i'm telling you what the journalist said. Its a guy from Espn, specialist in transfers and have a channel with more than 1 million subs. Its not my info. blu35_army

His wages alone are around 50m per year, which would be 10% of overall revenue for an year. Even if we are able to get him for 200m for let's say 4 years, that's 50m amortized fee. Another 10%. So 20% of our overall revenue on one player? This is on top of the 99m loss that we incurred for 2018-19. Anyone thinking we can "afford" him needs a reality check. Because the merchandising alone would cover a significant portion of that revenue

Messi yearly would cost 50m (wages) + 50 (amortized fee) + 10m (image rights) + 10 signing bonus (etc). I honestly doubt that messi alone would raise our revenue by 100-120m. If that was the case barca won't be behind united by 200m. Bayern won't be just 20m behind barca despite not having any massive marketable superstars. Ps - just checked. Our revenue for 2018/19 was record revenue of 423m£. And yet we incurred a 99.6m£ loss. So imho, it's beyond a pipe dream.
