Chelsea Transfers

Literally the only class striker around is Haaland and we are not getting him because of his wages. Hakimi is not coming either. The last time we won CL we signed Hazard (who I had never even heard of before). This season however, every target being reported is sad af. We won CL so we could sign Traore...

As I said a month ago don’t expect much this transfer window, we made enormous amount of investment in 2020. Werner, Havertz, Ziyech, and Pulisic can give much more.

Sure they can, but are you willing to take that risk?

Particularly if  City get Kane + Grealish and United get Sancho + Varane? Sure we need our attackers to do more, but not having a recognisable #9 when we are already 16th in chances converted, is that something you really want to head next season into?

I don't think we'll go another season of winning a major trophy & sitting still. I'd expect at least one major signing (hopefully Haaland).

Becoming harder doesn't necessarily mean it's our last chance though. I might be wrong but if anything, more teams will qualify from that point so maybe it'll become easier to win by it becoming less exclusive.

Less exclusive? We are the only UEFA team to have blown it and not won since 2006.

The first 3, 2000, then a hiatus, then 2005, and 2006 were all won by Brasilian sides. Corinthians, São Paulo, and Internacional.

Other than us choking under the FSW in 2012, the Euro teams have won every time since. The other Confedrations are a joke, and you will likely never see a great Brasilian side again, as their best players are all taken to Europe. We had the horrid luck in 2012 of running into the only truly strong SA side since 2006 in Corinthians, who now have won it twice. Most of the non Euro finalist before and after 2012 were almost a joke. TP Mazembe, Kashima Antlers, Ria Casablanca, Al Ain, etc.

In 2022 there are going to be most of the top UEFA clubs involved, not just the CL winners, so absolutely harder to win, plus 2021 is last year you only have to win two games to get the trophy.

He seems to occupy the same sort of spaces that Auba does. Would be a weird fit, no?

Auba is ageing out though. Not happy if we miss out on Håland, then Dušan Vlahović ends up at Spuds and Isak at Arse, and then Lewa (as is 90% likely) stays at Bayern. Lukaku is not leaving, and Kane would never come here, Mbappe is a pipe dream.

Removing all those names leaves Lautaro (who, unlike most of the board, I would not freak out if we signed him for a fair price) the £100m DCL (insane price) and then a large, large drop off in available CF's other than Youssef En-Nesyri (but has Ziyech poisoned him against us too?) and the youngster Jonathan David, who I think needs another year perhaps.

If a top striker isn't happening then just stick with Werner next season and don't force the issue.. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we see a sizeable increase in his goalscoring numbers next season.

Your the second person I have seen making this comment, does this have a source or is it just absolute nonsense 🤣

In that case we need another goalscorer either from midfield or winger. We really should have gone for Sancho from the start.

I expect everyone to have better individual seasons this time around, but you have to ask yourself, is it enough to challenge for the title? Again, if City get Grealish+Kane and United get Sancho + Varane, Liverpool with a fully fit defence and Leicester continuing to improve, are you still willing to take that risk?

Many have. I am far from alone.  It makes absolute sense too.

Aye, regardless of if it was one, two, seventy one or however many saying it, does it have a source? Or is it just being spouted off the basis of an assumption? It may make sense (which again it doesn’t really) but that doesn’t mean its right 😂

I mean I have no doubt Ziyech is perhaps not so keen on staying as he was in and out with Tuchel last season but I have doubts he would be telling anyone not to sign for a club hes still contracted to regardless of if he wants to stay or go. And I don’t think thats something a club wouldn’t be able to find out/hear of either if it were happening from a player on their books in particular.
