Arkadiy Romanovich Abramovich
14 September 1993 (age 27)

He is the one that @OhForAGreavsie and I think was behind some (NOT ALL) of the bad moves from summer 2017 and 2018

the blown sales, the refused sales, the blown buys, the refused buys

the shit sales, and the shit buys

plus shit contractual management

something sure happened after 2018 to stop that all in its tracks

I think Roman stepped back in hard and gave more power to Marina, as she was made to look that bad person (I fell victim to that line of thought myself) when it reality it was the board and others

she did not decide whom to buy, whom to sell

she only handed the money negotiations, and did not make the final call (I think she DOES have that power now, and look at the results, so good)

the thing that changed my mind on her was when it came out she did NOT herself turn down Barca's £65m Willian bid, it came from above her, and was NOT Roman directly

that only leaves a few people, and I am sure Sarri had a fit on that sale and Alonso sale and helped put the old bovver boots to both of them leaving (fucker)

same for the refusal to sell Cuntois the summer before (ZERO chance he was going to renew, we fucked up BAD by letting him stay on loan for THREE fucking years at Atleti and putting down roots in Madrid), which not only fucked us out of 50 to 60m quid on his sale the next window, BUT then, when Oblak turned us down when we met his release clause, we panic-bought Kepa. I think her hands were tied in those 2 windows. Hopefully never again. The Hazard deal worked out perfect, as the money lost via not selling him a year earlier was easily recouped by us winning the EL and getting into CL with him, and then still RAPING Real Madrid for around £140m the next summer, when Marina had the hardcore power.

Have Joe Cole's fascinating comments during the CL final been discussed? Talking in praise of Roman, he said that it was the owner who bought Havertz and that Chelsea is, "A family run club." If anyone at Stamford Bridge noticed this admission Joe will probably get a reprimand but I take it as final confirmation that there is more than one Abramovich making decisions.

The deal for the the left-sided German player we bought from Bremen launched my suspicion that Arkadiy was involved because it seemed to me that his skills would impress young football fans. I've forgotten the player's name but I don't criticise Arkadiy for being young at the time. He will be running the club one day so, if he did initiate that move, the experience of a failed transfer can only help him moving forward. Being experienced isn't about how old you are, it's about how much you've done.

you and I are still the only people I have ever seen talk about this in depth (unless I missed something on this board)

I tried to bring it up long ago at The Shed End, and was banned, roflmaoooooo

this place is so much deeper and vaster in its analysis than any other football board I have seen

granted I have not been on THAT many

Red Cafe is a fucking joke for instance

same for Liverpool FC Forum

and we do it with so few really active members nowadays

☹️

Did you see Joe on BT Sport OFAG ? Celebrating like a mad man dancing up and down -still Chels thru and thru

Definitely did. Also, when Lineaker asked him what is was like hearing Chelsea fans chant his name again it was obvious that he absolutely loved it.

Lol missed it first time round -BT Sport interviewer on the pitch saying to Havertz - ''You are the most expensive Chelsea footballer and you paid it all back nearly in one night....''   Havertz ''To be honest, I dont give a fuck about that, we won the Champions League'' 😜

I'm looking forward to seeing what this win does to the younger players in the squad next season. They all seem to have the right mentality that this is just the start and they have the thirst for more success now.

Ultimately I think the league is still going to be extremely hard. The experience of being in that grind for a title race is usually invaluable and we don't really have much of that currently within our squad. No doubt we should be coming a lot closer to the top of the league, but I do think it may take another season or two to build up towards a league title. However it feels like this squad is primed for the cups and in particular, European football. Especially with Tuchel in charge.

I actually couldn't bear to watch the last 15 mins of the game.

Have open plan living room and kitchen and spent the last 15 mins pacing up and down my kitchen splashing water on my face while listening to the game.

3 CL finals now and every one has been nerve shredding until the final kick.

Staying the obvious, but we can't even think about seriously challenging for the title until we start scoring a lot more goals than we have been doing. Really is as simple as that.

Just one game under TT when we've scored more than two goals. Basically, every game we play the result is in the balance going into the last ten minutes.

No matter how much we might dominate in terms of possession,  we'll drop far too many points by simply conceeding one goal or not getting one ourselves.

Need to starting bullying the weaker sides and putting ganes to bed long before the end.

I'd love to retain the CL next year but the title should defo be our top target from now on. Already too long since the last one.

Going to be extremely difficult though, and like you, I think we're 2 seasons away from being ready to really push for it.

Luck plays an important role.
We could have scored three on Saturday had Pulisic not missed.
Then I was watching just before the video of Chelsea v. City 3-1 for the league during Antonio's season. City were denied a pen early on when Cahill finds the ball with his hand. With VAR could have been judged unintentional but who knows ?
Then it was 1-0 to City and De Bruyne misses infront of empty net - worse miss than the worst of Werner's misses.
But true, we struggled against Brighton for example and could n't score even if they were still playing. We need someone like Haaland.

For those who haven’t noticed, every one of our back 5 made a crucial block/tackle that could of led to a City goal.

James, Dave, Christensen, Rudiger, and Chilwell. All made crucial individual defensive contributions that prevented a goal.

Defensive masterclass.

It sounds like a cliche but City attacked as individuals with all their dribblings but we defended as a team. If one vs one was lost another player would step out and clean up whilst the beaten player sprints back to make up the space and mark someone else. For anyone who likes teamwork and the defensive side of the game it was a joy to watch.
