I don't disagree with Tomo's stance. I just didn't like how passive we were today. Am fine with playing on the counter against Liverpool but we gotta show a bit more ambition than we did and better execution than lumping balls to Havertz and hoping Werner do something on the break. It's not rocket science.

I think that's the biggest mistake Lampard did today. This game needed Giroud as the focal point to bang it long too and hold the ball up, and Werner to then drift around off of him.

It probably was against Brighton as well. We tried to do the same but with Loftus-Cheek instead on Monday.

We have really become Liverpool's bitches in the league in the last 5 years or so, especially at home since 2014/15:

D 1-1
L 1-3
L 1-2
W 1-0
D 1-1
L 1-2
L 0-2

Our league record at Anfield is only marginally better during the same time period:

W 2-1
D 1-1
D 1-1
D 1-1
L 0-2
L 3-5

More precisely., Klopps bitches.

We have trouble securing results against his teams.

Even Kenny Dalglish seemed to have our number. And that goes even before the Abramovich era.

Disappointing game, think this game actually came in early for us specially with us still trying to intergrate everything and they bringing Thiago at half time to provide him match practise.

There was too many issues but at the same I feel there were some positives and we can envision what Lampard wants from the team. Last year it was possession based starting from back this year we're trying long balls. Defensively we're getting better if we get out Christensen lack of experience on the foul and Kepa's usual howler. In the first half, on possession we played it very safe and still tried to exploit the gaps between the players which was interesting. With Pulisic, Ziyech and Havertz getting to the number 10 ... there will more players getting in the final third to pressure the opposition. I think for all those we think we need to sell Kante, this game shows that the shift he puts in there which so few players can match ... i hope he stays fit and Lampard uses him intelligently in terms of playing him over the season.

After saying all this the only regret would be that we gave them too much respect after we went one down. But hoping we get into the groove at the earliest

1 Kepa

2 Injury plague for last 2 years

3 DMF(Kante/Jorginho exits needed as well/on top of/the cause of)

4 Lamps' tactics/player selection/subs

FML

:(

at least LB should soon be fixed and Mendy hopefully sorts GKer (plus Thiago helps with CB's)

2/3/4 is still there tho gal! In no particular order.

In the end, Liverpool had three big chances in the game and scored two. One of them was Kepa's mistake.
We had one with a penalty and scored nothing.

I havent bothered to see what the fucking media has said about the match, but pool were not dangerous enough cuz we contained them, rest is history. I bet they wanked themselves silly.

The German media did not even criticise us that much. They said that both teams played on a high tactical level til AC got a red card. They criticised Kepa a bit, but they knew Mendy was coming. But in TC here, people seem to go nuts.

Even after one man down, Liverpool were not that amazing after all.

From a defensive point of view, we looked good and very good from a collective side.
Individual mistakes cost us the game and both were avoidable. Even if Kepa did not get the ball in the AC Mane incident, I mean it is better to concede in that situation instead of playing with only 10 men againt Pool.

Puli, Ziyech, Silva, Mendy and Chilwell still have to play. Looking forward to it

Our attack is extremely poor. Very slow and no idea of what to do; still relying on individual talent in every play. It seems we're still in the hazard days even with new signings. I'm very worried and honestly not sure about Lampard as a manager yet for a top club.

Give it time mate.

We've got players to come back from injury etc, things are not going to happen overnight, Lamps needs to know what his best 11 are when all are fit.

The system has to be understood by the players, they got to get to know each other it all takes time, if you're expecting to see a miracle change in the short term then you are going to be disappointed.

Give time now is the gelling period next season is when we'll be ready to go, and by that I don't mean things will not improve as the season wears on.

What i'm really pleased about is that on here most realise that, and haven't condemned Frank and the lads, as I feared would happen:ph34r:

People say we need to be more offensive maybe play 4231. Let's forget the 2nd half,10 vs 11,it is completely different ball game.

In the 1st half we barely get out of our half because it has been the same story with us. How do we beat press last season. kova dribble, willian dribble, long ball to giroud. Willian is gone, Havertz can't hold ball like Giroud. So it was all about Kovacic breaking press and feeding Werner.

With werner we actually has one more way to break press, long ball behind but not sure anyone in our team bar ziyech or maybe Barkley (not sure, but i think I watched him do that) can do that.

So we can't bring the ball up. But the few time we get the ball up high, can we keep the ball? Nope, same story as last season no william no Giroud, no control - > basketball game, but it was one way traffic basketball game. So we can't progress the ball, we can't keep the ball, can we win the ball high? Are we a good pressing team?? Not sure, you better be sure when pressing against pool otherwise it will be sprint race against mane and salah all night long.

So now what is the point of playing offensive lineup when you don't have the ball.
