He'll have plenty of time to show how bad he is and how weak his football IQ his this season; but yeah, hopefully someone will offer decent money for him!

Barkley in Lamps era played just once back to back 90mins games. Liverpool 2:0 and Everton 4:0. Probably our best games last season. We Chelsea fans dont know what would happened if he played regularly.

We will see this season and it may look bad on Lamps.

That is selective af. He looked by far the least comfortable in that midfield. Even the commentators pointed out how he would fuck up most attacks by staying too long on the ball. Ross is dross and was completely out of his depth at CFC

This thread has gone very quiet after his last 2 outings for Villa...

That was the biggest issue with Ross at both Chelsea and Everton, he was consistently inconsistent.

He was always inconsistent and should not have been a part of the squad this season imo.

Let's hope he stays true to his nature and gives those 5-10 games of 8/10 performance because knowing English clubs, even that would be hyped up and increase his market value

I stand by what I said. I am not expecting him to perform miracles for Villa every game, however it feels right now that the same midfield options are being played every game and there is games, week in week out. Would I have liked Barkley to be used as rotation option from time to time? Yes. The fixture schedule is completely cramped together. Kante fortunately has not struggled with injuries so far but last 2 seasons he has. Gilmour is recovering from an injury and needs time to fully settle in. Jorginho is regularly battered from fans here. So do I think we should have kept him on? Yes I do.

It is funny that he never showed any sign of football IQ at Chelsea and yesterday he seemed like a mastermind emoji23.png. Maybe Grealish taught him some new things

He has shown form like this for us though, his problem has always been he's ridiculously streaky. That said i do wish we had him as a back up to Mount and Kai.

That was prime Zidane performance. He played number 10. Never did that here? Everytime he has the ball in the final 3rd it is a danger for opponent.

He set up probably at least 4 goals against Liverpool and Arsenal without getting official assist, this is why stats can be misleading.

Not to the extent of performances of Liverpool and Arsenal recently.

Big fish small pond player for me. Same with Grealish and it will only be a matter of time until that is proven to be true also.

Chelsea could end up making big profit on £15m star Ross Barkley

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/news/our-view-chelsea-could-end-up-making-big-profit-on-15m-star-ross-barkley/

Chelsea have plenty of players out on loan this season away from Stamford Bridge, but Ross Barkley is arguably the one above any catching the eye.

On-loan Blues star Barkley joined Premier League club Aston Villa for the season in search of regular minutes and he’s quickly become an important player for them.

The attacking midfielder has already scored two goals in five appearances for the Midlands giants, which included a winner in a Premier League victory against Leicester City in October.

He’s instantly become a nailed-on starter for Dean Smith’s XI, establishing a great partnership alongside Villa teammates such as Jack Grealish, John McGinn and Ollie Watkins.

Aston Villa receive 'big fee' warning over permanent Ross Barkley transfer from Chelsea

Ross Barkley has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Villa but Gabby Agbonlahor thinks the midfielder's form could work against Dean Smith's side when it comes to a potential permanent transfer

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/ross-barkley-aston-villa-chelsea-19258346

Gabby Agbonlahor has warned Aston Villa they face paying a huge fee for Ross Barkley if the Chelsea midfielder keeps playing the way he is.

Barkley has enjoyed a fine start to life at Villa Park since his season-long loan move from Stamford Bridge, already underlining his status as a key player for Dean Smith.

There is no option-to-buy included in the loan agreement, meaning the ball is in Chelsea's court when it comes to the 26-year-old's long-term future.

Villa would love to keep Barkley if his partnerships with the likes of Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins continue to blossom but Agbonlahor believes the former Everton player's early form could work against them.

He told Football Insider: "There’s no rush. I think at the moment they’ve got him on loan for the season, they’ll see how he does all through the season and then judge the situation at the end of the season.

"It might be something they want to make permanent at the end of the season.
