I think thats a really simplistic way to look at transfer negotiations. If a club doesn't wan't to sell a player they aren't going to opening put a price tag on his head. Napoli know we need a CB so why would they accept our first few offers.

This dude was one of the best CB's in Europe last year and has the potential to be the best. Worth it.

Koulibaly + Zouma at some point this season hopefully. Future back 3 of Koulibaly, Zouma, and Chistensen. Pace, power, great on the ball, massive size and physicality.

Or is it our fans who never learn? If our opening bid had been £50 million do you think Napoli would've accepted it? I don't. They'd have rejected it out of hand and people like you would now be talking about just paying up the £80 million and be done with it.

In any case, if the story about this bid is true, I wouldn't be surprised if it was rejected. Napoli have nothing to lose and so can afford to play the game till the end if they want to.
