Not fully sure but my understanding is we own the rights to the name and signature of Jose mourinho as a brand and marketing tool, ie mourinho mugs, banners, etc. Now given the global brand that United have and the brand and marketing appeal Jose holds in his own right I would imagine these rights would be fairly lucrative to them. They view him as a God, a messiah, some sort of life savior to drag a club out of the limbo.
