I said in another thread, he is vitally important to us but there are better DMs. His protection is vital to our system and it wasn't there. When hes good hes good but when Matic is bad hes truly awful. Everyone can have a bad game pal... He's been absolutely superb this season and has hit a little bit of a rough patch, doesn't mean he's suddenly not one of the best in position. It's very funny how Henrique decides to pop up when Matic is going through a bit of a rough patch also... There's no better DM in the world at the moment.Matic is a beast and has made our team look amazing, especially the defense part.Yesterday he was not on top form and the defense gets tear apart.Part fault Matic but even greater fault from defense in being that slow and average.We got world class players in every department except in defense with the exception of azpi.....City can get by without strikers because they have midfielders who can score. Even their holding midfielders, like fernandinho, are living in the box when they get on top.Their midfielders, as a collective, are better than ours. For me he is a correct player, definitely better than Mikel, but being better than Mikel doesn't make you a super DM. I think he is very limited, going forward and defending.To be honest I don't see us winning the trophy. City is a better team in every aspect. Their squad depth is unbelievable. I think we lost an amazing opportunity when we lost 4 points against Manchester teams. At this moment we could be 5 points ahead of City. Now we definitely lost our momentum. I'm not saying he isn't a brilliant player but when people started posting he was the best DM in the world over players like Alonso, Busquets, Martinez, who have been doing it consistently at a high level for years, I knew people were getting carried away. Its hard to disagree and say hes not been brilliant for us because he has been in, particularly in big games but he was awful vs Spurs, who despite having a few good players are very average. I'm not saying he is an awful player, no chance but he was poor and Cahill and Terry's performance was slammed despite Matic being continuously out of position and leaving both exposed. He is one of the best in that holding position yes but I remember various members saying he is the best in that position. Also Fabregas, who has normally been good in terms of positional sense in the other big games was shocking too as Jason said in another thread (or this one fuck knows), I'm not saying Matic should be dropped or sold or whatever the fuck or he isn't good enough but if anyone is gonna stick up for him and say he played well or relatively half decent is having nothing but a fucking laugh. Hence the point why I said when he's good he's good but when he's bad he's truly awful. Never said he was awful or not go enough or anything but yet again if you criticize someone who had a poor game despite having a good season so far, you're made to be some sort of dick who thinks they are shite or something.
