🇪🇸 Cesc Fàbregas

What I dislike about him are his leadership skills or lack of leadership skill to be exact.

For someone so long in football, experience and being captain at young age at arse, I would expect him to lead the players in difficult games, but he just dissapears in every crucial game. Man lacks that character, otherwise I would forgive him for all the physical atributes, but without physical or character qualities, he is just average in every game apart from a pass or two.

And when you have DLP like that, obviously you get dominated left and right in midfield. He is the exact opposite of what DLP should realy be. Alonso and Pirlo were example of class DLP.

Really need Drinkwater/Kante to get back to fitness and  stabilize our CM.

This season, Fabregas has started 8/9 PL games, that means he's on pace to start 30 PL games this season alone! (discounting UCL & FA CUP). Compare that to Fabregas starting only 13 games in the PL last season and being subbed on 16 times. It's not Fabregas's fault, but the fact is he just can't continue to start games at this rate. The Drinkwater/Kante/Bakayoko injuries have royally fucked us this season. And the lack of further CM options has forced Conte to continue to play Fabregas in CM.

I know the Bakayoko-Kante double pivot has been very poor in terms of maintaining possession/general aesthetic play, but together against Leicester/Stoke/City/Spurs they conceded only 1 Open-play goal.

Advanced data showed, that when Matic-Kante started, CFC last season had extremely low-event matches. (Meaning that the total # of shots taken & saves made, were much less in CFC games compared to others in the league.) But when Fabregas starts in CM, CFC lose so much central control of the match. And the opposition are able to generate more dangerous-central shots. Like just look at the 2 Richarlson misses and Watford's 2nd goal, they completely walked past our CM like Bakayoko-Cesc were non-existent.

The key to fixing our defensive displays will be the removal of Fabregas from CM, and only starting him in either 3-man midfield or up higher as part of the front 3, which Conte did a lot last season.

Hopefully Drinkwater/Baka/Kante stay fit for the rest of the season.

So now when our midfield is overrun, Fab play poorly. That is not new, we know it for quite a while now.

I think early in the season,we expecte kante and bakayoko to start most game and fab to come in when we are down because despite his lack of physical attributes he is still by far our best creator.

But kante is injured, bakayoko is still learning, drinkwater is injured, and luis is horrible at midfield, so now.cesc has to play week in week out.

This lad has been getting away with murder recently with his performances. He's been one of our worst players in the series of poor performances we've had.

Completely agree with you. However as much as we criticize him the fact is we dont have anyone else to cover the CM position (most of us agree last season too that Fab is not a starter in Conte's setup). We let go of Matic/Chalobah, got an injured Drinkwater, didnt add any quality player in the CM position, we dont take risk on any of our youth (this time around we mite not have one as well).

Our entire hope in CM position was pinned that Kante and Bakayoko would take us through the entire season. That sure came crashing down and we ended up with Fab who is a non starter under Conte's system, so we will get lackluster performances.

Worst I’ve ever seen him play. Looked like an OAP out there.

Agreed. Worse I've seen from him, but I blame Conte tbh. You play in Italy against Roma and you start the game with Fabregas and Baka in midfield... just bizarre.

Problem with him is, even when you have him on the bench as a "squad player", everyone thinks "omg omg you has Cesc Fabregas the best passer playmaker famous Spaniard at your team dude, just use him smthimes, he is genius". Well, he is average. Been saying that for a long time.

I have a feeling that we could move on to another creative midfielder only after we offload him. So overrated that it's crazy. Even his passes aren't that good, not just now - always. He is not that Pirlo/Xabi/Xavi level and I don't think he ever was, especially not now.

He’s not a bad option off the bench tbh. I think that’s what we need to use him as - like Conte did last season.

Well, that's the thing. I think even Conte sees him for more than he is, considered everything. Conte didn't really look for his upgrade, for an upgrade for a creative part of our midfield. Don't need to say that the board probably thinks he is best creative midfielder in the world.

We were not in the talks for another creative midfielder since he arrived I think. Weren't really looking for another one, because we always counted on him.

Or because they wouldn't have managed to find another one anyway, I mean, we'd probably have ended up with Joe Allen.
