Azpi hardly had a trouble at all last night dealing with Navas (so much for the worries before that!). Matched him for pace and didn't really allow Navas to exert any real influence from that side. The only trouble came when City combined for a passing move down that side especially when Zabaleta or Toure bombed forward. Otherwise, he did well and even made some crucial interceptions, blocks and clearances. And to think we only got him for £7 million!

have to disagree. navas multiple times ran past azpi in the game. think that Navas was their best player and their right side was more dangerous than the left one. azpi did have a lot of problems with jesus and we was lucky they didnt convert one. but all in all he did a good job.

I don't recall about Navas getting past Azpi multiple times. If anything, crosses were let in a tad too much from that side but getting past? No. Navas didn't really have the beating of Azpi like Valencia did early on when we played United recently. Moreover, the problem didn't come from Navas alone. As I mentioned, the issue came when Zabaleta, Silva and/or even Toure at times combined with Navas down the right hand side.

He's improved so much this season, I absolutely love him. Hard working, disciplined lad. And very underrated, in my opinion. If he gets better offensively, maybe people will rate him as he deserves.
