CHOULO19 24,332
The thing with Cesar and lb is that he gets beat alot and is out of position a lot. However, his pace makes up for it most of the time...Exactly this. He was out of position A LOT today, but still had a pretty good game overall. Azpi on the right and Cole on the left is our best fullback combination, IMO. Korea
Popular Post! Milan 17,958 Posted February 3, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted February 3, 2014 Unsung hero tonight, he worked his socks off and to be fair, against superquick Navas it requires a hell of a energy. Incredible tonight. Stats 7,144
Another solid game at LB. Every game he has played there, especially against the big teams he has been very solid. Such a reliable player and it is easy to see why despite not being a natural LB, keeps the position ahead of Cole. Much stronger, faster and more energy to burn. BlueLyon 9,359
Lahm 2.0 His versatility is amazing and in couple years, he will be one of best full backs. Under Mourinho, he will be tacticaly superior and its good that he doesnt rely on pace too much, but on reading the game. He is caught of position on LB sometimes, but he is RB naturaly and he is amazing there. Barbara and sdrcfc
manpe 10,861
City kept banging from our left side because on the right we had a big "RESTRICTED AREA" sign in the form of Brana, Luiz and Ramires. We were a bit more suspect on the left but Dave managed it well, considering who he was playing against. I also loved the cover he got from Hazard, gone are the times when we had those 1v2 situations on the back flanks. Barbara
Barbara 15,149
He was absolutely fantastic and I agree with José, he held Navas Speedy Gonzalez back perfectly today. yuvala
Jase 43,479
Azpi hardly had a trouble at all last night dealing with Navas (so much for the worries before that!). Matched him for pace and didn't really allow Navas to exert any real influence from that side. The only trouble came when City combined for a passing move down that side especially when Zabaleta or Toure bombed forward. Otherwise, he did well and even made some crucial interceptions, blocks and clearances. And to think we only got him for £7 million!

If anything, crosses were let in a tad too much from that side but getting past? No. Navas didn't really have the beating of Azpi like Valencia did early on when we played United recently. Moreover, the problem didn't come from Navas alone. As I mentioned, the issue came when Zabaleta, Silva and/or even Toure at times combined with Navas down the right hand side. yuvala and Mufassir08

Peppen 934
Immense player. The fact that the most of his performances goes unnoticed is kind of a testament to his improvement. Nothing said about him, job done. Very solid in defense and vastly improving offensively. Keep it up, Azpi. bluesman2610 1,417
Was immense today. Hazard will get all the plaudits and rightfully so but Azpi did not put a foot wrong intercepting passes tackling and getting us going forward.. Gilvorak 3,734
Defensively, he's already the best fullback in the League for me.It'll be interesting to see how he develops offensively though. Sadly, he'll only get the recognition he deserves the more he contributes offensively. Mufassir08
