Barbara 15,149
not that I trust Napoli president... he signed Benitez after all so he's shady to say the least.I'm trusting Roman here, not Napoli
LDN Blue 7,903
I don't understand how people could not believe at least some of this.Napoli's bloody president has already confirmed we're in talks. What more is needed? Is it not true unless reported on Sky Sports? He also confirmed Manchester City are interested & they've supposedly already made an offer. ulsterchelsea
The Skipper 20,609
There's interest yes, that's very clear, but I doubt it's anywhere near done. Pizy, LDN Blue and Bosnian Blue
Krypt 241
Sounds like he is looking for a bidding war to get the most for the player...we will have to wait and see.
Magic Lamps 11,692
Our odds have been slashed so much, there ahs to be sth in it. Sometimes, these fantasy transfers become reality, esp here at Chelsea. It was the same Hazard, Everyone and his dog had been in for him, we were only one of many clubs courting, then suddenly the odds got slashed, cos our board just as the fans knew he was the player we needes most and they did everything that was necessary. This is not a Roman signing, where we put tons of money on the wrong player, only because Big daddy likes him, it is a football signing. Often the fans simply know best. Fernando 6,585
Torres isn't even worth close to 50 mil. Lukaku is worth more. So i don't get what you are arguing there. So would i. I would love FT to go the other way and start afresh but if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen. Yes cavani will be getting high wages. But so would any player we brought in. Bringing in Cavani would be different from bringing anyone else in. The wage bill is still going to go up. If we don't get rid of torres, are we not gonna buy anyone? If Cavani comes it gives Torres the clear option. Sit on the bench and earn your money, or take a cut and go play elsewhere. What I'm arguing, is that it's a joke having two strikers that cost 50 mill each. We just never learn that when we spend hard cash on strikers they flop? These players cannot take the pressure of the hefty price tag. Styles 9,790
There's interest yes, that's very clear, but I doubt it's anywhere near done.I bet it's one of those that will rumble on all summer and perhaps even until the last days of the transfer market. It's early June and people are going crazy already. Peace. and The Skipper
nachikethas 1,154
Oh come on Napoli you have a world class manager who can win European trophy without a striker. Give cavani to us.
Barbara 15,149
40 days to the next match - a friendly nonetheless - now CC getting in the middle of the transfer window probably delaying to many deals.I'm so done with international football. I'm here for clubs, not national team.Still looking forward to see what Mourinho has to say MondayHopefully he'll hint a few things
Ankit 3,176
57m is a huge sum. Just last season we made a little profit. We are going to spend more money on other players. I love Cavani and will be the happiest person if he ends of at CFC than City. But We have to work hell lot to cover the hole we are making this season. Leif 6,006
To me there's nothing to the rumour of Man City wanting Cavani. He does not fit in their system at all and every system Manuel has implemented at his clubs have involved a poacher or 2. Never a work-horse of a striker or a proper target man. Aguero is born for the style Manuel likes to play. Cavani is a player completely opposite to the system he tries to play and what City have been playing in the past.I understand they have loads of money but they're not going to go spend £30m or whatever on a 28 year old midfielder, overpay for Jesus Navas, give Aguero a pay-rise (I believe) then go splash £50m+ on Cavani when they've still got Tevez, Dzeko etc. on their books. Logic people. Logic doesn't go completely out the window with City.On top of that, why would Cavani want to go to a club where there's already Aguero who'd be playing ahead of him? Unless of course they implement a 4-4-2 sort of system which'd make 0 sense with Silva in the team.

Leif 6,006
Would you rather play with Silva and half the time injured and rapidly ageing Navas behind/beside you as you're 2nd choice behind Aguero (or possibly competing for the #1 spot of course) with Nasri being an option in the smaller games (all this while being coached by Pellegrini whose trophy cabinet is not too different to Arsenal's in the last 8 years) at Manchester's second biggest club;Or -Would you rather have Mata and Hazard supporting you with Oscar playing behind you at times (a player so close to Hamsik in many ways), be the #1 striker and be coached by Mourinho (who he's admitted to wanting to work with) while playing at London's biggest and best club who've won two back to back European titles in the last 2 seasons?Wow tough choice
