LOL!

De Rossi would be a good buy, specially if we manage to sell Mikel. Imagine De Rossi as a first option and Chalobah as his imediate substitute, pretty beast imo. Then, after a couple of years, we can incorporate Ake or RLC into the team and make Chalobah our main man.

I dont see a problem in doing so!

Must be awkward being Oriol Romeu :ph34r2:

It's Zemanlandia! He got fired in February for a reason haha, but it makes for highly entertaining games.

But yeah, Rossi played under that for most of the season and then a few months and then played under their assistant manager for the rest of it, I really would not judge anyone from Roma too much on this season especially players that has showed their class as consistently as Rossi before.

Lol the commentator is barely able to contain his laughter.

Tancredi Palmeri@tancredipalmeri7m

Chelsea has contacted both Roma and De Rossi's entourage to check his availability. De Rossi will at least consider the option

Is he still at a good enough level to be starting for us?

I know it's just one game, but I watched the Copa Italia the other day and couldn't really tell he was even on the pitch. I've heard he's almost past it from numerous people.

That entire game was poor and there weren't really any standouts from what I've heard. Everyone was playing conservatively and with fear so not a good indicator.

I was joking/hoping when I posted that Homer picture at the thought of having both De Rossi and Modric....But DAYUM if we actually pull it off we'll have one of the best double pivots in the world.

I'd be very happy with this signing. He's experienced, versatile. Cheaper than Fellaini, and in my view, a better player technically. Mad as batshit though, but if anyone can keep his players in check it is TSO.

But it's not just that game. He's been invisible all season. First people were blaming that on his issues with Zeman, but Zeman has been gone for 4 month now and De Rossi is yet to show some glimpses of his old self.

De Rossi needs a new challenge. He's become too comfortable at Roma being the highest earner in Serie A. A new challenge, in a new league working under Mourinho I think would bring that spark back into his game which he still does show when playing for Italy.

Why on earth would be sing a 30 year old jerk for 20-25 million poudns?

He is a great player, but he is also a moron. Would be really expensive to buy him and pay his big salary.

We wouldn't. We'd be signing him for £10-£12 million.

His wages are no more than what we were paying Malouda and even Benayoun.

I am usually against signing player above 30, but all around midfielder is just extremely rare these days

Daniele de Rossi:

Pros:

  • Ridiculously experienced at club and national level.
  • A born leader - something we have missed in our midfield since Michael Ballack left.
  • Very combative - something we lack without Essien/Makelele/Ballack in the centre of the pitch. He's an aggressive, dynamic player that would make Yaya Toure look like a little lame schoolboy.
  • Huge desire to win. Very passionate player, gives his all.
  • Versatile - not necessarily a brilliant defender, but he can do a job at centre-half, like Mascherano.
  • The transfer fee. £12m at most, most likely. Beats spending twice that on Fellaini, who isn't as good a player.

Cons:

  • Age. He will probably have two-three years to give us at best, but within that period we will know whether Chalobah/RLC will be ready to step up.
  • Wages. He is one of the top earners in Serie A. €200,000 (£170,000) a week. But we have just offloaded Malouda (£85,000), Hilario (£10,000), Turnbull (£15,000) and Benayoun (£75,000). Plus, you can't see the club offering that much when Torres is our top earner, on about £140,000 a week. So - those wages will be lowered, and we'd be spending less than we were on dead wood.
