how dont we have creativity now? we got torres up ahead flanked by hazard and hulk and mata between them. what we need behind these 4 would be a solid (to the point defensive) pairing and i would trust the tried and tested of lamps and mikel than spending 40m on modric.

as far as essien is concerned, he was bad last season but lets look at it this way, even after kalou and bosingwa played such a big role in the final, they were let go off because people who are dealing in transfers could see that they are more of a liability but if they are trusting in essien, it might be that they have seen things we have not. so just trust in chelsea rather than mindlessly spending on transfers. anyways if we get modric it would mean o chance for josh even in the carling cup matches so it is a complete NO.

Or, maybe, it's because Essien's contract isn't expiring this summer like Bosingwa's and Kalou's. I think it's more likely that it's extremely difficult to sell Essien, and they don't want do disrupt the teams atmosphere by putting an unlucky player on the transfer list.

And I think people are underestimating Modric, he is an exceptional player. Of course there is room for Modric, he plays in the double pivot and would be a fucking great replacement for Lampard.

they have let go off 3 (out of which one was dd), that would have more than disrupted the atmosphere, plus by now every1 who follows epl knows we have shouted OVERHAUL for rooftops, and i think so do our players and being professionals they would accept it, but u r right on one point, selling essien would be difficult(aging and heavily injury prone) if we rate him high. but i still think he would be sold for bout 10m.

are u kidding me? mik-lamps got dominated not because of their lack but because we dint have outlets. who cares if lamps is 34. have u already forgotten the 2 awesome balls for rambo against barca. also tell me who does not get dominated by barca and what happened to real madrid when they went to allianz arena? lamos and mikel were brilliant in the final and yet we were "dominated" not because of them but because of the lack of attacking outlets of our team. they was just one outlet for us mata, but when u have hazard and hulk on the wings, the full backs wont commit with mata being an even more potent of a weapon than he was, so mikel and lamps wont be over run 2-4or even 5 in the midfield.

btw if lamps is 34 we have 2 awesome 20 and under players in romeu and josh. so no need to but modric.

Mikel is our best midfielder, and unlike Modric he's played at his maximum potential this season. If anyone should go to make room for Modric its Lampard and he won't be leaving for a while. Lampard and Mikel play well together, and we have Romeu, Essien, Meireles and McEachran already as squad players, if we sign Modric, we'll have too many midfielders sitting on the bench wasting away and taking out money for doing nothing.

Also your dismissal of Australia is hilarious. Football is a minority sport here and we've still managed to get to more world cups than Bulgaria will in your lifetime. My Sri Lanka has never played Australia in football as far as I know, and we have beaten many quality teams of late. While it was fun beating Tonga 22-0 every week we're too good for that these days and now play far better Asian teams. I don't want to take this off topic but Asian teams like Korea and Japan- who we regularly play and do well against- would disassemble half the teams that have qualified for EURO 12.

Bulgaria hasnt made the world cup since 1998 where as Korea and Japan made it to the knock out stages in 2010.

That is football, just face it. Some international teams become better than others. Then there are some that stay regular like Australia they are regular/good but they will be for a long time until they start putting more effort into football than into cricket (they seem like a cricket loving country) and rugby.

On the other side some teams get better, look at Venezuela they were utter shit 4 - 5 years ago and now they're playing waaay better they got to the semi-finals of the America Cup 2011 and will keep improving. Look at belgium breeding world class players when they were a easy match some years ago.

The need for Modric or a player like him is because currently the only player we have who can dictate the tempo of a game is Lampard and we can't rely on him for a whole season. Mceachran could be an option, but his defensive game isn't good game and its the same for De Bruyne, don't even get me started on Meireles. With the players we got, our game is gonna be a lot more about possession and keeping hold of the ball and thats why we need a midfield distributor in there. Obviously this would only be possible if we get rid of Essien and even possibly Meireles if we plan to keep one of KDB and Josh

Who gives a crap about population, New Zealand has only 4m people and they made it to the worldcup and didnt lose once.
