Who else from Barcelona is on your shopping list? 😆

I'm thinking more along the lines of if Haaland ends up a no-go, the drop off in quality options is pretty significant and I wouldn't want the club spending big money on an alternative to their real top targets.

Therefore given Barca's position it may be an opportunity to just take a player off them on loan for a season if they're that desperate to let players go, and then we're not stuck next summer with a big money player who hasn't worked out but is preventing us going back in for our top targets.

I didn't realise Barca were paying Griezmann so much. Aguero is probably on £500k a week himself so it is probably pointless to even speculate!

I would be happy with signing Camavinga. He can play understudy to Jorginho and Kovacic is cover for Kante. Even better would be signing Tchomenei as well and loaning Camavinga to Germany. That would solve the midfield problem that we saw under conte. Rice is a Drinkwater in this situation.

Can Paqueta play in our double pivot? Very interesting player.

AMF/No 10 (even perhaps a winger at times) type all the way

we scouted him pretty heavy a while back

the one Brasilian MFer who is a hybrid type DMF/CMF and could perform a double pivot role is one who I post all the time

his Lyon teammate and another lad we scouted, even more so I think

Bruno Guimarães (gee mo ryesh  gee pronounced like French name Guy)

Is this a known fact or what? Maybe my memory has failed me but I don't recall it being mentioned much in past years compared to now, almost as if people are trying to convince themselves something is really happening when it could be like 50-50. Last summer for instance, our pursuit of Havertz and Chilwell was public knowledge and everyone knew negotiations were taking place.

Even if we somehow managed to not leak anything out to the media, I would be surprised if the media covering the opposing club didn't get any inkling something is happening. Some may point to the Werner transfer as something that happened out of the blue but he had a release clause and there was no need for long negotiations with Leipzig.

Fair point but think we'll only start to feel its impact once we start to ditch the bigger deadwoods.

Well the thing with Werner was that everyone knew about the buyout and hardly anyone linked us. He was apparently nailed on for the Dippers. Ypu could add Pulisic to the list of discreet deals (also with Dortmund), Kepa (who was tracked for months if you believe the club; I don't on that one), Kovacic was also quietly done. If you go back further you have examples like Bosingwa who had no links at all then was announced on the website one day.

So, yeah, I would say, when compared to other clubs were discreet (when placed in the context of world football industry.)

Personally if we're going for a young CM I'd rather we just roll with Gallagher for CM4 and try and get Bellingham in a year or two. If not Gallagher then get someone like SMS who can actually score goals and provide assists from CM. In my opinion, with a 3atb system the need for a DM is limited (only reason I buy the Rice rumours is because he can also play CB.)

We were linked with Pulisic before we signed him and Kepa was more of a panic buy.

Either way, for every discreet transfer you mentioned there, there's always one that is public knowledge and we know negotiations are taking place.

The most out of the blue transfer was definitely Marko Marin. Obviously that one didn't work out in the slightest but he was still a somewhat highly rated young player with 3-4 years of Bundesliga experience, played CL football for Werder Bremen and was even in the Germany squad for the 2010 World Cup. No transfer rumors whatsoever and then one day while the season was still going (like March-April) the transfer was announced on the club's website.

Of last years transfers Ziyech was also a discrete one. The first time we heard of it was when the Dutch media told everyone it was a done deal and after that it didn't take long for both clubs to announce it too.

In the recent years i can only think about Luiz, Kepa, and Ziyech. The rest including Werner, Pulisic, Kovacic are hardly discreet.
