Jase 43,479
Cheap or not, I don't think we can afford to get it wrong with our next keeper. We wouldn't want to be in another situation where we are forced to chop and change the keeper again. If a better one costs more, just go for it. The keeper is one position we can't afford to be stingy with it.

killer1257 3,282
Most still prefer Bernd. And Martinez didnt perform long enough to be evaluated like that. Surely he is an option, but who knows if its what we need. That said for 10m risk wouldnt be big. IMO if Lopes was taller, he would be my pick and we would have GK set for few years. On Arsenal mania, they want all Martinez as a no. 1 because of his size. They think that Leno may be a little bit of a better shot stopper, but Martinez dominance in the box is way better than Leno's.I rarely read that Leno is better than MartinezGesendet von meinem VOG-L29 mit Tapatalk

Drinkwater is the worst buy easily becasue he didn't even get a look in. Feels like he got about 2 Chelsea appearences. Literally money flushed down the drain. It is a statement by Martinez that many Arsenal fans believe that he is better than Leno. What is so different between Arsenal and Chelsea? Same league, we even have better defenders than Arsenal. Martinez could have just been another Kepa, but he showed that he is a great GK.I do not know any 195 cm GK with that body frame that has shown it in Pl. I think that he has the highest catch rate in PL since he came onGesendet von meinem VOG-L29 mit Tapatalk

Cheap, knows the PL, will not be or want insane wages and if he doesn't work out we have a great GK2. Get this done. 1 hour ago, Tomo said: Disagree, too risky to sign him based on a months form. Yeah, but every GK bar the elite ones like Alisson and Oblak, are big risks as they do not know the league. As we have seen through losing TC and then moving to Kepa one of the most important things a GK has to do in the PL is dominate his 6 yard area and catch high balls. This is quite different to Ligue 1, Edevisie and La Liga. Serie A and the Bundesliga are the only ones that really compare. So, for me, when it comes to a GK, we either need to go big i.e. Oblak, or go small i.e. Martinez/Foster as all the mid-priced GK's run into serious risks. Sure, some of them would be fine but one or two would likely not adapt. My personal fav is the Lille GK, but if it is £30-£40m for him or £8-£10m for Martinez or Foster on a free I am going for one of the PL based GK's as we cannot afford even another mid-priced mistake. Martinez if he was had for £10m, carries no disaster risk as his fee and wages would make him a slightly expensive GK2 if he isn't cut out for a No.1 spot. A another thing to consider is that we are lumbered with Kepa if he has to stay the GK budget is likely to be tight. 1 hour ago, killer1257 said: He has made many world class saves in PL against Pool and Spurs for instance. Most people on here have probably seen more of Martinez than they have of any of the French based GK's. Onana may they have seen more of owing to CL. Either way, I am with you on this. Everything Martinez showed since taking over at Le Arse from Leno showed excellent to very good levels of GK work. Sure, he isn't perfect but if he really is £10m he has to be the no brainer option. (Unless that is one of the French based GK's are absolutely 100% world class and will be able to handle the PL. I do not know the answer to this as all I have seen are youtube clips, stats and a couple of Lille games which are nowhere near enough to make a definitive conclusion.) Onana I am not really sold on owing to his parrying into danger too often. chelsea_4_eva and killer1257

He has only 2 years left on his contract, which makes him worth around 20 million. Well 20m maybe, 10m is practically a bag of nuts in today’s market and I just don’t believe they will sell to major direct rival at such low fee. killer1257
Ryan Fong 2,776
we gave them luiz and cech, they can do us some favors back...I seriously doubt it. Cech & Luiz were different situations, we wanted to sell at the first place.

Both were unwanted anymore weren’t they? Maybe less of Cech’s case but he was declining and unlikely to get the starting place back from the snake.
