As much as it annoys the hell out of me to say, Arse are building a side that should be formidable. Still mediocre in central midfield, CB, and fullback but they should make a very strong push for 3rd or 4th next season.

Let's see how they fare with European football to navigate this season. The Europa League could easily throw up some pretty remote and long trips around Europe and I think that could have an impact on their season next year. The season couldn't have aligned better for them last season and they still didn't manage top 4.

If they sign Raphinha, yeah, I think they’ll be formidable. Front 3 of Jesus flanked by Saka and Raphinha looks extremely tricky and dangerous.

They need to score too. That front three shouldn't scare any of the teams that finished above them.

Dembele apparently  is pissed bc we are offering only marginally more than Barca and only a modest (wild guess about 5m)signing fee

Lol he is such a diva. can really live without another toxic character in the dressing room but might still happen

If that is the sole reason, we really should stay clear. No matter how much of a fan I am of his (been following since he broke onto the scene with Rennes), players should be worried about playing time & winning with a move in mind, not their bank account.

If we can manage to sign De Ligt (which I’m still very skeptical about) I’m still very curious which other CB we’ll target. The Koundé link feels like it totally disappeared and that he’ll go to Barca. Buying Nathan Aké back, who isn’t good enough to get a game for a rival we’re trying to catch, would be extremely anticlimactic. Embarrassing as well after selling him in the first place.

Josko Gvardiol is set to sign a new, improved contract with RB Leipzig which will include a release clause for next summer. He is in no hurry to leave this summer due to the World Cup and Champions League football with Leipzig.

While you're right in what you're saying here about Ake, why is it different for Jesus and Arsenal who has been made available for exactly the same reason Ake has been?

I think it may be that De Ligt is No.1 choice now and the 2nd CB will be resolved later down the line after that transfer is sorted and we cover some other areas. May even be we take a good look at Colwill in pre-season before deciding on a 2nd CB in case TT thinks he is ready.

Personally, I don't buy much into the Ake rumours.

I'd rather let go of Pulisic than Werner. Might just be me though.

It is probably the case of Ziyech/Puli/Werner are all available. Thus, it probably depends on who gets interest. My feeling was Ziyech was most likely but if Werner has interest the club will probably take someone up on it.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ziyech leave also. That would then mean we need two AM's which at this point look like Sterling and Dembele (I am personally not sold on Dembele.)

There have been a number of players down the years we've signed who were out of favour at their clubs and have ended up having excellent careers here.

I'm not advocating Ake but I think he would be much better suited in a back 3 and would actually probably be a lot better here than at City.

On a flipside of this, I'm quite worried about Gallagher coming back here and fitting into the current system. He feels a square peg in a round hole unless Tuchel has some different ideas for how Gallagher would fit.

Players need to be the right fit for a club and system.

Inverted wingback Zinchenko/Milner style?

In part it's me trying to convince myself we have a contingency plan to Chilwell that isn't Emerson or Kenedy but I also think he would work well there given how Tuchel likes the wingbacks to play.

Have a bad feeling that after all the talk of us getting him Dembele will end up extending with Barca.

So I hope that whoever is handling transfers at our club now has told Raphinha to hold off on his decision until next week when Dembele will have made his choice. Because if we strike out on Dembele and Raphinha has already signed for Arse we’re kinda screwed.

Sterling is nice but not enough. We’ll need another attacker.

Werner + cash for  De ligt negotiation is ON. Chelsea need to pay more in this deal. Timo Werner and Juventus are aligned.

De Ligt is keen on a move to Chelsea and Werner is a keen on a move to Juve.

I'm not sure if he's creative enough to fill that role. With coaching he could possibly take on Kante's role in midfield of the 'hunter' for the ball but in my mind he's screaming out for a 4-3-3 system.

I agree on Emerson and Kenedy though. I still believe both will go. Emerson was an ideal plan in January to keep our powder dry but ultimately there's a reason Tuchel let him leave on loan and that's because he wasn't good enough. His loan spell hasn't changed that.

If we weren't going to sign anyone and Alonso is definitely on the way out, I'd rather use CHO in that position.
