Chelsea Transfers

I really felt a sense of peace knowing we were getting a really dynamic midfielder. Felt the pieces might start falling into place. I will always be a Chelsea fan, it might take a little more grin and bear it with what has happened in the last 48 hours. The Boehly out crowd must not understand contracts. When Roman wrote it into the contract that Chelsea could not be sold for ten years, there is no option for Boehly out for ten years.

Roger Schmidt criticizes Chelsea:

“There is a club that wants Enzo. They know we don't want to sell him, they try to have the player on their side... It's a lack of respect and unacceptable, for them to drive the player 'crazy' and say they pay the clause and then want to negotiate...”

Oh don't worry, being crybabies is part of negotiation as well. Funny to see people stoked like kindergarten kids when normal business being conducted.

No, noone will pay 130 million for some one hit wonder because "they made his head crazy", get real or get out.

Could of just recalled Colwill and use that Badiashile money to make up the difference 😭

Think Colwill if progress, because we have Gallagher that did good in loan and so far with us not much, then we shall see if he's worth it.

Boehly has single handedly done a tremendous job in making sure every top prospect in world football not want to join us in the future. He has had his pants pulled down by clubs all over Europe in less than 6 months. No player or club will want to work with this kind of behavior.

Turned the players head which clearly pissed Benfica off and were then deceptive in negotiations which also which pissed Benfica off.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they refuse to even take our call again. And also wouldn’t be surprised if one of our rivals takes advantage and gets him for cheaper than the release clause just to fuck with us.

Only way to salvage anything here is for us to just pay the clause like we originally said we were going to apparently.

Again, the same gripe I had with TB when he took over - he either has a plug in team or is very naive. I know no other serious team, that allows it's transfer activity to be a media reality show for days and it all comes to letting ourselves be humiliated. Maybe less, than with Raphinia circus, but still. It should be said clearly in the beginning - if something leaks, the deal is over. And now we are apparently hanging on the thumb up from some Don Corleone Rui Costa as he would have much to say here, because he is offended we freaking dare to negotiate for his rando fella.

Some of you guys must be taking a piss here. 120 million is a shitload of money. Bohely would be far better off adding another 50 and buying entire Benfica as a feeder club, because that's whats they are actually worth, now just trying to capitalize on havoc freaking Real Madrid caused by paying 50 milion euro for literal children. Maybe some of you are young and think money is some fifa coins with no reflection on economy as a whole, but just look what kind of players 100 milion gives to other teams and what it brings us. This must stop and Bohely has my back if he is assertive.

Plus, an honest question to those most agitated with Bohely out, who think we neeeeedd Enzo as they apparently have him mixed up with prime Zidane and think that if we will put him in the plane in next 30 minutes, we will batter City today: Were you guys even aware of this fella existence like 60 days ago, not to mention him being key player to rebuild Chelsea as it stands?

Just chill, this is a story like tens of others we've had, that drags for way too long, you just letting yourselves to be fired up by clickbait.

I think our midfield is still the biggest issue. I even advocated that last summer ahead of bringing in defenders.

Jorginho is such a limited player and even a fit Kovacic and Kante are still vastly limited.

Disagree. Our biggest issue is attack. It has been for about 6 or 7 years now. The MF is aging and has some disadvantages but again its not as if the 3 you mentioned are poor players or haven't delivered consistently. Where as in attack, you could say that a lot of them are genuinely poor players ie. Ziyech, Pulisic, Havertz (well hes more inconsistent than poor but his inconsistency makes him very poor/average).

If the WC never happened I’d be surprised if anybody was excessively keen on Enzo Fernandez right now. Had heard of him before but I doubt many would of wanted him as eagerly and it is interesting that the club weren’t linked to him before Liverpool and Man City’s apparent interest also during the world cup. Just seems like we’re again going for players that other teams have been on the trail of.

As @Tomo said, with a good system in place, we won the CL with Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic. We had worse forwards but ultimately poor forwards is what probably has held us back going another level with Tuchel’s system.

With this scenario and right after the competition, they made their first meeting with Benfica. The Portuguese club made it clear to them: they paid the €120 million of the exit clause, which had to be in a single installment, and they kept it.
However, Chelsea made a verbal counter-offer: it stated that it was willing to invest 127 million euros, but on payment in several installments. After deliberating for several days and accepting the Argentine's request to make the leap to the Premier League, president Rui Costa opened the doors to negotiations.
Negotiations began days before the New Year and were stalled for the holidays without an agreement yet. Chelsea didn't even correct Enzo's contract because they knew it wouldn't be a problem, as they knew his salary at Benfica and could easily improve it.
On Monday, January 2nd, the clubs resumed their dialogue: Benfica was waiting for the structure of a complex operation to be set up. What does this means? Of those 127 million euros that Chelsea said it would pay, how much would it be in a first payment, installments and how much money would it be in goals.
However, the English -always verbally- changed the conditions and the club that owned Enzo's pass issued an ultimatum: everything had to be resolved within 48 hours.
Both on Tuesday, the 3rd, and on Wednesday, the 4th, they met in person in long meetings that ended until dawn in Europe.
Yesterday, Chelsea (the negotiation was led by sporting director Christopher Vivell and everything was accompanied by Todd Boehly, the English owner of the club) informally made a proposal to Benfica: 90 million euros to be paid in four installments and the possibility of having players of soccer in the middle of the operation. The Portuguese, revolted, returned to the initial position of rescission clause or nothing and said that the decision was engraved in stone. And they ended the meeting.
In this way, the operation is dead today, unless the English review their plans and get the footballer to execute the exit clause, an amount they are not willing to spend.

The state of this club, no doubt expected the owner to blunder this somehow but Vivell being just as pathetic.
