Kounde is much better but is he 60m better than Sule and Ginter? Because these two are available for free and all can cover RCB, even RB.

Süle and Ginter are both much better, more experienced on the top level and more suited to the PL

the kounde transfer will be another one in a series of bullshit decision made by the board on the basis of a lack of long term strategy.

Kounde is/was linked with Real, Barca, City, Chelsea, United... Dont see top teams linked with these two. Sule may go to Newcastle? And Ginter to Seria A.

Sevilla has best defense in top5 leagues.

Also Sule looks clumsy on the ball like Zouma.

The fact that none of the big clubs in the PL are doing much is evidence that it’s just much more difficult these days to pull of significant signings in January. You would’ve thought clubs like United, Arse, Spuds, etc who are in a knife fight for 4th would be super active trying to put themselves in pole position. But none of them are really doing anything at the moment. Liverpool lost Mané and Salah to AFCON and haven’t done anything.

Unless you can target a top player whose contract expires this summer and can pay now to get him early the options are basically nonexistent. The fact that we were interested in Digne but wouldn’t even pay the £23m required to sign him tells you what the clubs’ budget is. They want a super cheap stopgap.

So it’s Emerson or a loan for someone else.

I think the impact Covid had on clubs financially might be something to do with it. Not sure but it seems clubs are acting a lot more stingy since and obviously the Jan transfer window was already becoming a non event before. Nobody can be asses to pay the premium.

Rare to see a player in his prime moving down a level of this is true. I guess it makes sense for him since he was in Germany before and will be a considered much more important there than he is here.

Things are sounding more positive with Rüdiger and he is much more important to keep. Christensen out, Koundé in to replace him, and Toni staying would be an excellent outcome for us. And a definite upgrade.

I agree. We were concerned about quantity. Losing 3 CBs in one summer. But if Rudiger is staying that is massive and most important. Chalobah and Silva are already locked down.

We may go back to back 4 next season so only one more CB would be needed. Kounde seems close. And we have always option to go for 5th CB for free like Sule, Ginter...

Unfortunately, Chelsea does not have a buyback clause. I read today that Lampteys price is 40 million pounds. offer Brighton 32 million plus Gilmour 1.5 year on loan.
