Well if Sevilla gave us a deadline of when the verbal agreement lasts until, then thats on us. But if they didnt then thats a pretty dodgy thing for them to do.

But we'll probably never know...

Also if we dont get a CB then we need a CM, we cannot go without both.

I don't mind missing out on Kounde, but we do need another CB since we already sold Zouma.

Trevoh Chalobah looks set to stay so we have already replaced Zouma. Having five CBs for three places in the team wasn't a problem last season so I don't see it becoming a big issue now either if Kounde can't be signed.

I'd happily take Kounde if a deal can be done with reasonable prices because it's always good to prepare for the future as well, but I don't think it's a must-have signing. Maybe not getting Kounde now when he's available will come back to bite us later if he goes to another club (ie. Real Madrid) next year and becomes one of the best in the world for the next decade but for the current season I don't see much of a difference whether he's signed or not.

counting loan fees and sales minus Lukaku

atm we have made around £15-20m in profit, roflmao

And yet Sevilla raising the price by £12m is a deal breaker? Makes no sense.

While missing out on Koundé this summer isn’t devastating, the problem now will be that if he has another great season in Spain many other top clubs will be back in for him this time next year. We had a free run at him this summer and he was apparently extremely keen on coming here.

We’ll probably be targeting Rice who will cost £100m so we won’t have money to spend on him next summer. This is why getting him in early right now made sense.

True, James can cover in the back-3 as well but I counted only five for the CBs because unless CHO (or someone else) starts playing regularly at wing-back then one of James/Azpi has to play RWB always so it basically becomes six players for four positions (three CB and RWB). Not an ideal amount of depth for a long season and one more would be preferable, whether it's additional wing-back cover or another CB.

Looking at the Wolves game last night I really wouldn't mind having Adama Traore as RWB. Shit end product but his pace and dribbling ability is insane, I could see him flourishing as RWB in Tuchel's system.

Why on earth would we sell Zouma before any Koundé deal was also sealed and signed simultaneously? 😑😑😑

If you’d have told us at the start of the window that we’d only make 1 signing I don’t think anyone would’ve believed it.

It's when people start to panic and get told calm down there is time...

Well...once again there isn't...we've been through this many times..usually silence means nothing is happening not things are going on behind the scenes

CB's we still have as of this minute

Trevoh Chalobah

these need to go out on loan ASAP:

Ethan Ampadu
Malang Sarr
Lewis Baker    (played well there in pre season)

Maybe we should let one of the dregs stay to make up the numbers if we really want another cb for cover. Esp if we let CHO leave on loan, we might be forced ot use RJ as RWB only and Azpi there more as well.

In general I am not too worried about quality due to the versatility of our players but it is a long ass season so we do need the numbers.

fuck Rice

only MFer remotely available worth close to £85 to 100m is Barella (the next Kante)

THAT is who need to go after next summer

but Aurélien Tchouaméni NOW

we are fucking crazy to not buy him

I have watched so so so much of him now

real deal

CB I want Bastoni, BUT Inter will never sell him AND Barella in same window

Lacroix or Botman are options still, I will adopt a wait and see attitude

the club obviously doesn't rate Romagnoli, as he is there for the taking, has been all window

I am not stressed out on CB atm

the things I am:

1 DMF/CMF

2 who the fuck is going to replace Mendy for 4 or 5 weeks for that shitbox AFCON???

Not really....we are Chelsea, we don't give a fuck how much we pay for some inferior player. I understand you can't tell the difference between that and celebrating an actual title. But other than your club, we have recently won a couple and trust me those celebrations were quite different.

Also why should reliable outlets make up that verbal agreement?

Let's take your position for a moment and not believe anything we read in the media and there is no deal on the cards for the midget. What business you have here then?

Explain the lies that were counted for a few weeks that were spoken in agreement. Something that was always false. And grace for your triumphs. We are a smaller club. But we also celebrate some titles despite not having Russian money behind. We are more humble but we have dignity.

Chelsea deal for Kounde looks over

https://theathletic.com/2796473/2021/08/30/ornstein-edwards-expected-to-leave-liverpool-kounde-Chelsea-deal-unlikely-arsenal-lose-coach-garry/

Chelsea have halted their proposed signing of defender Jules Kounde and are not expected to resurrect the deal unless Sevilla reduce their asking price.

The France international looked certain to be the next expensive arrival at Stamford Bridge following the £98.5 million acquisition of Romelu Lukaku.

As The Athletic revealed in July, Chelsea have been pursuing the centre-back for two years and were pushing to get a deal done this summer. Sources have also revealed how coach Thomas Tuchel has been talking about his potential arrival with members of the senior squad.

But in a dramatic turn of events, Chelsea have decided to stop their pursuit because Sevilla suddenly increased the asking price. It is believed Chelsea thought they had a verbal agreement already in place over the fee, but the La Liga club are now said to be requesting €15 million (around £12.8 million) more than was originally discussed.

Chelsea have opted not to increase their offer and, if Sevilla do not lower their demands, are set to stick with their existing options, possibly with the proviso of addressing the situation in January.

Sevilla awaits the 'real' offer for Koundé

The first approach of 50 million was not even considered and with the sale of Zouma the final one should arrive today.

Because a first proposal came to Sevilla on Wednesday night for 50 million. Even less than what Manchester City offered a year ago (55 plus Otamendi). A proposal that was not even considered by the Andalusian managers, aware of the value of the French international, again summoned by Deschamps for the qualifying matches for the Qatar World Cup. It must be remembered that Girondins, the club that formed it and from where it left for Sevilla for 20 + 5 million in 2019, will keep 15% of the capital gain generated from its sale. In Nervión they would give the green light to any offer that reaches the 70 million barrier. Nobody is going to castle in the 90 that now marks the clause, in the last two weeks of the market. Although if the offer arrived on August 30 or 31, it is the only position that would be left to the Sevillans.

I changed my mind on him as soon as we missed out on Hakimi and after I looked at the SHAMBOLIC list of available RB's out there (it is SO shit, by far weakest position in football)

but we are not going to buy him this late

'All eyes on Saul now'

How on earth does Saul affect CHO in any way? They don't even play in any of the same positions.

In the attacking places there's already Lukaku, Havertz, Werner, Mount, Ziyech and Pulisic so six players for three positions, which is already ideal for rotation and CHO leaving wouldn't change that. Callum going on loan would only really affect RWB because we'd have less cover in there. Even that wouldn't be a problem if Kounde were to be signed because James/Azpi could easily handle the RWB spot together but without Kounde the team is lacking one player in CB/RWB.
